So I have a liquid platinum MS6 that I'm thinking about getting a 30% LLumar tint job done...

Having never had a tinted car before, I'm wondering how much this is going to cut down on visibility. I drive fairly aggressively, even at night (late at night), and I'm wondering how much tinting affects vision.

I suppose I could go with 35% or higher, but I really like that darker, more solid black look. My hope was that even 30% would look fairly dark on a silver-ish car with black interior. Any ideas? Any pics of liquid platinum cars with 30 or 35%?

*ALSO: I noticed my windshield has little blue paint bumps all over it. I heard the wipers hitting/scraping on something, felt the windshield, and felt these little bumps. If I scratch them with my finger/thumbnail, they come off (though some are more difficult than others to remove). I've gotten most of them off (like 40 or so); however, it seems like there are like 10-20 left. Anyone else have this issue?

I have 35% in the front and 40% in the rear. It looks GREAT on the car. Mine is the same color as yours. Lots of platinum owners on here have tinted theirs that dark so I'm sure they'll post up pictures. No problems with visibility at night. Well, unless someone doesn't have their lights on, then you just won't see them at all.

As for those bumps on the windshield, never heard of em'. Perhaps they're from the dealership or something. Sounds like paint splatter like from a renovation or something.

I have 5% on the back and 15% on the front *coughnotlegalcough* and the only bad thing I've noticed is that it makes it hard to reverse into spots at night if there is not much light...although, I have reduced that by turning my dimming mirror off. Other than that, I love love love my tint, it makes the car look amazing. PM me if you want pictures. These cars look absolutely beautiful with tint.

Yeah, the dealer blamed my paint nuggets on random paintball drive-by's...but didn't offer to clean them off. Of course, this is a dealer who says they'd disengage the 'seatbelt minder' if they only knew how. <sigh>

i'm tempted to do the 35% thing, it's just i really like the silver car with solid black looking tint i've seen around town--on a few audis. especially with black wheels. unfortunately, i doubt 30% will be dark enough to give it that black-tint look, BUT will impede my vision enough to where i wish i went with 35%. we'll see. i just get really tempted to drive fast when it's late at night and no one's on the road--even in fairly residential areas with cars parked on the side of the road...so being able to see is important. i just got an escort radar detector to help me "see" police radar--like the one who gave me the ticket for doing 50 in a 30 (technically, the turns were 15mph, but he caught me approaching him after the turns--though i did concede with pride that i had done the turns at 50 as well). it's just soooo easy to drive this thing.

any pics of liquid platinums with 30 or 35 tint?

I know of someone who has the liquid plat with limo tint if you're interested, but unfortunately I don't know of any with the 30-35%. Maybe check cardomain?

Maybe this can help you get an idea.
I've got a Titanium with 35% on the sides and 5% on the back.
It is a 3M metal based hybrid tint.

I have 20 percent on the back of mine and it renders the autodimming mirror useless. I turned it off and it doesn't change anything. It makes it very hard to back up when there is no light. My street is not lit well and backing out of my driveway at night or in the morning isn't always easy. I don't regret tinting my car though. Black needs tint or it doesn't look right.

i have 15% and it is rather hard to see at night. if i were you i would go with 30-35% it gives the car a nice classy look and dosent draw that much attention to the police. also if you have a dark interior that will give the tint a darker appearance.

+1 20 percent in the back reduces visibility substantially at night.

It must be the angle but Alan's 35% looks a lot lighter than Rawyzf's 30%.

I will be getting 50% (legal limit) this weekend on my Ti gray, and I'll take before and after pics and post em.

I have limo all the way around and think it looks great! If I have trouble seeing at night I just roll down the windows and turn on the heater. Winter is pretty mild in California.

Why would you get the front darker then the rear? Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't most states allow darker in the rear then in front? I know in NJ you can tint the rears as dark as you want, but can't touch the 2 front windows...

Backing up really only bothered me when I first had it done. I have learned to use my side mirrors more when backing, its really not that bad. Just takes time to adjust to it.

I've got 20 on sides and back and 35 on front windshield. I have no issues with visibility. I don't necessarily love the 35 on the front windshield (and yes, it's not legal) but it has really helped out with my kids in the car seats in the back. They would get blinded by the sunlight, especially now in fall/winter where the sun seems to be at or near the horizon when I am taking the kids to preschool in the a.m.
