Hi,

I'm a pretty new 6 owner, i've never really had a nice car to wash or polish before, so i'm definitely in the learning process.

The sales rep at my local auto store recommended nufinish brand to wax my car, I was wondering if anyone had any good or bad experiences with the product? Thanks in advance for the info!

I bought a bottle once just to give it a try.

It looks like crap compared to other waxes when done.

Another HUGE downside is that if you get it on black trim.. it's difficult to remove. I think it's because it has titanium dioxide in it... which is super hard stuff and imbeds itself into the plastic... Too much additional work

But on the upside it seems to last most of winter even with all the salt spray (still beads) so I've used it for that since waxing in winter is zero fun. It also seems to work well on windows as a rain repellent... but after the bottle ran out I have bought it since (years ago).

I remember reading about urethane polishes like Nu Finish. IIRC, they allow the paint to continue to oxidize underneath the polish, but prevent any further cleaning of the oxidizing paint.
That doesn't sound good to me at all.
Could be an internet myth but why risk it?

I picked up a bottle of Eagle One Nanowax at Big Lots. It doesn't leave the same deep lustre as Mother's Pure Carnauba, but it also doesn't evaporate as quickly on 100+ degree days.
It's the best $4.00 wax I ever used.

I have used NuFinish before, and I think the biggest challenge is the time it takes to get it all off and clean looking after applying it. White flecks everywhere. Then once your done it does well at beading water, but I think I just sort of tried to convince myself that it looked any better. Wouldn't recommend it. I would try the Turtlewax Ice though. Just used that this morning and took only 30min start to finish. Huge shine, that you can see the difference, and now white stuff at all.

NuFinish....snake oil. I love the commercials: "We ran this car through 52 consecutive car washes". Really? So what?! Car washes make the wax last LONGER. Its the acid rain, dirt, wind and sun that wear the wax away. I have a '94 Chevy p/u beater truck that hasnt had wax on it on probably 10 years? More? It hasnt been washed in....well, it did rain recently. The paint STILL looks better than some cars today!

It amazes me how bold-faced some of the lies in advertising are. Amy had NuFinish when we got together...tried to use it once. I Kirked-out on her and trashed that crap :)

Don't do it. Nu-Finish is baddddddddd.

Personally I've had good luck with Zaino. If you really want to make your car look good take the time to claybar it and then wax/seal it. You won't regret it. Will actually make maintaining your car that much easier. I've gotten to the point where I rarely wash my car. I just use Zaino's Z6 to remove the light dirt twice a week. Takes about 15 minutes. Just make sure you use soft CLEAN cloths. Hey it's my way of being green. :)
