The Mysterious Black Cherry...

Don't you find it odd that a major car manufacturer would make a color that is not advertised in either the Speed 6 brochure OR the official Mazda website?

If you don't believe me, go to Mazda.com and do a "build your own."

Why would a car company make a car in a certain color and not let it be known? Even if was introduced as a "later" color, why woudn't have Mazda updated their web site to let people know it exists?

If it hadn't been for this forum I would never have known about this color, which I ended up getting.

Seems very odd.

Yeah it's not available on the Mazda website.

I am not a big fan of the color just because it would seem next to impossible to keep clean. It does look nice when it's clean though...

Well it was discontinued in 07 so that might be why.

yeah, the BCM first appeared on the Shinka MY05 RX8, then the MY06 MS6 and MY07 CX7. only four colors for MY07 MS6, and no BCM.

i love it. the black interior is much harder to maintain that the BCM exterior.

The Mazda.com website has now been updated with the '07 model year information. Two colors were dropped from the '06 Speed6 color pallate...Black Cherry Metallic and White Water Pearl. So all that are available for '07 Speed6's are Red, Black, Grey and Silver.

I dont really care for the color, even though, if it came down to it being the only color, I would have been quite upset (and probably gone with an Audi), however, either way, my woman had a say in the color and she didnt like the color at all so I had no real yearn for it.

I love the color though. I was looking for either a Black or Black Chery car. Depended more on if they had it with the options I wanted. I think I like the BCM better as its not quite as hard to keep clean as Black is, but it still looks good in any light.

You said it, dude. I'd be embarassed to be seen in a car called "dark cherry". . .well, unless I preferred the company of men.

It was a poor selling color on an evenly poorer selling car, that's why it was not advertised and eventually discontinued.

ok well my 2 cents
i bought a black cherry mica speed6 and i like it. i traded in my o4 miata that was black and i didnt want another black car. but i wanted something dark.
and yes it is very hard to keep clean but it looks amazeing in the lite and the dark when it is clean.

Hey all Im a 03 mazda 6i owner and will be trading in my car...
So I just get this call from my local dealer in NY (LI) and he offered me $26,786 for an 06 Black Cherry Mazdaspeed 6 GT package (with the Nav. option. What do you guys think? I dont know if im fond of this color.

i love the color. that's a great price with navi. back in the day, jan 06, i bought my gt with roof for $28.8.

I think it's the nicest colour available on the MS6. It's also available on the CX7 in Canada at least.

There's no accounting for taste, that's for sure.

Purely a matter of taste. IMO it's the most interesting color they offer and sets the car apart from practical transportation boxes. First you see black, then the dark red shading adds depth. Black is definitely less forgiving - the slightest dent, scratch or ripple jumps out on a black car. As for women.... an SUV offers more living space ;-).
