I am sure that all this info is old news to everyone, but i wanted to share my thoughts of the MS6. Let me know if they are true or i am just a dumb newbie driving a car that i have never drivin before. I hope this isnt to long. The dealer is in York.

Exterior: First of all the exterior is nice to look at. I think all of the paint colors come with 3 different flakes in each. The velocity red mica that i drove last night looked red, maroon, and orange. The sales man said that the white has purple, orange and blue, i think those are the colors. The one thing i did not like is the tailpipes. From a casual observer one would think that it has 2 huge tailpipes, this is untrue. it has 2 tiny pipes that look like big tips. These big tips are molded into the bumper.

Interior: Nice interior. I didnt look at everything to closely. The first thing i noticed was that the red guage cluster lights are BRIGHT, but i am sure they can be dialed down. The other thing was the seats. I was not impressed with the seats, while nice and comfortable, they are not as bolstered as my wrx. Oh well, maybe someone could get some seats from a mazdaspeed 3 in a swap.

Test Drive: When i got on my local highway the salesman said pass this impala now, so i did and was up over 100mph before i knew it. Then i was behind tractor trailer and again told the 18-wheeler to get the hell out of the way. Once he did i down shifted and took off. I did not know the back roads at all. But there were some corners that i took way above speed and it handled as good or better than the wrx. The hardest thing to get used to was the clutch. It pushed in VERY easy. It must be like a VW's becuase it felt similar to my GTI's.

Overall Impressions: The ride is tight, but more than comfortable for daily driving. I wish i could hear the exhaust a little bit more, Maybe the addition off a Mazdaspeed exhaust would help that. Something with a little bit more noise, but still quite. If that makes any sense at all. I liked the HIDs. The turbo is pretty quite and it stops dead in its tracks over 5000-5500rpms. It didnt feel as fast as the wrx, but my wrx sounds fast. I know it has way more power than the wrx from looking at dyno charts on here.

Final Impressions: It is tops of the list right now and with some discounts and working the dealer i think i could get one for under $25k. This is a car that may be mine in a short while. The salesman was only going to give me $2500-$3500 off the price, but i didnt sit down with him and really work him. So i am sure i could have gotten more.

On a side note he mentioned the mazdaspeed3. i told him that i like it, but i want AWD. he said that it was and that all mazda's turbo engines are AWD, contradicting everything i have heard. So we go to his desk and he pulls out a photocopied version of the article from sport compact car. I laughed out loud. He is getting his information from a tuner magazine. He reads a section and says your right it is FWD. I thought that was hilarious.

PS: Anyone want to buy a wrx

lol, You can definitely get more off the price than that. I mention this alot on here, but I cant get over it. I got my sport for 21500 otd with 1500 miles on it. It was a demo. So can get more off than that. They are pretty desperate right now to get rid of the 06's. Just be a hardass

i plan on being a hardass, but i would get killed on the trade in of the wrx. so i am going to sell privately and use that as a down payment.

Haha, I like it. Just got my MS6 sport 2 weeks ago with a single digit odometer for 22500 OTD with the 100k warranty. No regrets!

don't forget the speed also weighs about 500lbs more than your wrx, so judge those braking distances accordingly :p

I know this was a joke but the MS6's brakes are phenominal IMO, much better than the WRX's.

I've been in and drove my friend's 06 WRX (which is faster than the previous ones) and it feels pretty comprable to my MS6 though had much more turbo lag, it's high end hold out longer.

Do your homework before you buy. Scan this site for a few days and you will notice a lot of complaints about the clutch, powerloss (before and after the reflash), build quality, etc . .. It's already been recalled!

Most people on here who tell you they are happy with their purchase are mostly happy because they got it so cheap. There's a reason why everyone is telling you to get the dealer to come down even further. Expect to get a decent car at a great price but beware of all it's problems.

Yeah, seriously - I bought in June for S-Plan (30K) and put down 7 grand and because of price drops I am now upside down. And now my windshield is broken and since the VIN is in different place am having trouble getting replacement and the stupid reflash.. grumble grumble. I would not have purchased the car if I had test driven after the reflash.

And the negative-press trolling continues....why do you come here? :nono: Do you even have an MS6? I doubt it.

I guess I should really be asking myself why I'm feeding a troll! Sigh... :sarc:

I was very impressed with the brakes. They are much better than my EBC greenstuffs on the wrx. I would go with a LGT, and still may, but i like to switch it up when getting a new car. I went from honda, to vw, to suby. Try out as much as i can. just my opinion. I have been around the site for a couple of weeks now looking at the information on here. I just need to be a well informed consumer before jumping into anything like this.

Frankly, the clutch "problem" is a non issue. It took me about three days to get used to it. And as for the recall, at least they are addressing the issue. And as for getting a Speed3, well I hope the 3's are much improved since '04. My 3 was the crappiest car I ever owned. Granted that was because the dealer and Mazda denied ( nearly ) all the issues the car had, so the only issues that got fixed were the "click" from the power windows and the glove box that wouldn't shut right.
You should be able to get a hell of a deal on a Speed6 though. Mine was stickered $28,755, I got $6,771 off.
BTW, one problem with the Whitewater pearl, the touch-up paint doesn't work. The touch-up paint is just the clear and pearl mix. You have to paint the chip white first. Good thing Mazda had sent me white paint for my old 3.

Sofa King,

Scott's is just one opinion, so take it or leave it. However, most people are on this forum because they like their cars enough to want to learn more. They discuss everything from winter tires to speed mods. The car is a great touring sedan even if you pay full price. It handles very well if driven with above average skill (most people on this site are more skillful than the average). It has great brakes as documented in every side-by-side test I've read. As you point out, it is AWD. Some people don't like the clutch, but it is a performance shifter's dream, in my opinion. I liked the torquey feel before the reflash, but must admit that the post-reflash is smoother. I also think I didn't really lose any performance, it just moved the high torque band up the rpm curve. The interior is comfortable and if you get the GT, the climate control, keyless entry, and heated seats/mirrors will spoil you. Add to that that the car is comfortable for you and your passengers, and you have a winner. No car is perfect, but I like this one better than most performance (touring) sedans I drove. Go for it, then just drive . . . :drive:

I dont plan to mod the car. But i think everyone says that and it never lasts. I would get some winter rims/tires. Or summer rims and make the stock ones winter rims. I did think about a FMIC, if there is one, because i heard that the car heatsoaks. I like to drag race and i heatsoaked my GTI so bad that the damn thing just shut down, But with the wrx and a FMIC i did 10 passes in 1hr in june, i think it was june, with no heat soak and each time was very consistant. Other than the FMIC, i thought about a more throaty exhaust. Is there one that adds just a hint more tone, but nothing to much into the cabin?

I know you're just a stupid troll, but in the interests of the thread starter, I will counter some of your claims.

IMO the reflash COMPLETELY solves the powerloss issue. I have not had a single problem since, and do not think that I lost any power.

And for the record, I paid $42,000 CDN for my MS6 ($36,921 US) and I love it and don't have a single regret.

I'm sure that the original poster really appreciates you coming to his rescue. What a nice guy.

Good for you. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who have posted on thus site that contradict your experience. After getting the reflash, they've noticed a severe drop in hp and torque.

Even the most hardcore Speed6 lovers would tell you that you got ripped off. You know there are people on here bragging about getting their cars for 22K USD ?
