So i went to put on my oakley's and noticed the lenses were cracked. Not a crack that could be felt, but cracked almost from the inside. I took them out and started storing an old pair of lenscrafters normal glasses in there. sure enough with 90 degree temps here in chicago, these also cracked in the same manner. I think it's probably due to the roof heating up too much and not enough insulation for the compartment. Any body else have this issue? I'm not all that upset about the glasses since they were old anyway, but i'm pissed because this renders the compartment useless to me. Definately not going to be storing anything sensitive in there again. Just figured i'd see if this happened to anybody else since i know i don't live in the hottest area of the U.S....

I've had that problem before with Oakleys but not in the 6. I left mine under the seat of a motorcycle (in a small storage bin) while I watched a movie. Came back out from the movie and there were tiny horizontal cracks in the lenses.

I usually only put my sunglasses in the storage compartment when I'm driving and the sun goes down. I put them back on the next morning so they are never out there in the 110 degree heat of the day.

I had my Oakley Nanowire 2.0s in the compartment in all this heat this past few weeks, no problems.
I'm from Chicago too.

Never seen this mentioned before. Pretty humorous notion, but definately possible.
My problem is the compartment is too small. It's like fitting a piece into a puzzle with my shades. Put them in wrong and my sunglasses holder is like om nom nom nom on mah sunglasses.

Leave my Revo's in the car all the time with no trouble.....
Don't really use that compartment tho, I hang 'em off the rearview mirror

(Insert standard Revo > Oakleys humor here...)

rattles too much with glasses in there. only thing i use that compartment for is punch-cards for those "buy 10 and the 11th is free" type thingies and store cards. Since its padded in there the cards don't rattle like they do when i put them in any other pockets.

I always leave my sunglasses in the car and never have a problem. We have been getting lots of days with 100+ outside and inside the car always seems to get hotter. But after I take them off I never close the holder when I leave the car. The only time they are closed is when I am driving. Try leaving it open when you are not in the car and see if that helps.

I put my Square Whisker's in there w/out issue. How are you putting them in there? I place mine in there with lenses facing me, nose up.

It's tight in there, but no issues with the heat this summer. Car sits outside at work with direct exposure to the sun.

I don't think it's necessarily a quality issue with Oakley glasses.

My first pair (Square Wires) lasted me 7 years only needing replaced because my big head finally stretched them out, my second pair (Big Square Wire) lasted 3 years and only failed because the one spring broke. Probably could have gotten it fixed by Oakley but wanted a new pair of glasses.

I agree. I gave up trying to use that sunglass holder a long time ago. Being a woman, I usually just put my shades in my purse, in their holder. Ha.

Hahaha! I get the same shit!

Sometimes I'm tempted to decorate the sunglass holder in blue fur and Sesame Street puppet eyes.

I put the glasses in there with the lenses facing away from me. i also had these oakley's for 7 years with zero problems. I even sat on them accidentally once. Not to mention this also happened with regular prescription glasses after the Oakleys. Thanks for the replies though, kinda crazy more people havent experienced this. I think i'm just not gonna use that compartment....
