Streetunit Performance and the 15% discount?

9481 Views 54 Replies 24 Participants Last post by  mtxpert
Has anyone recieved an email or call from streetunit performance about their 15% 6club discount? I got such a call last week but just got back to them today. It turns out that they are saying that I owe them another $40+ for the intake because they shouldn't have sold it for the discount. I was told that I was sent emails stating that there was a mistake, but I never received these emails. The only emails that came from them was an order confirmation that showed the discounted price, an email to confirm shipping, and a newsletter. I have recieved the intake at the discounted price, installed it, and then got a phone call saying that I still owe them money. He said that Cp-e doesn't allow him to sell the part at the price he sold it for, but then said that it wasn't included because it was backordered. Either way the discount went through and shipped, but somehow he is saying this is my fault. The conversation came to an abrupt end when he called me an idiot and hung up on me. I'm wondering if this is happening to others.

>_< ooooooo not good for Cullen..., Streetunit stop shooting yourselves in the foot...
BS. If they try to charge you extra at all call your credit card company immediately and dispute the charge. In fact it might not hurt to call your CC company now and let them know about the situation and they might try to add an unauthorized charge to your card.
Elicious has it right. You have a receipt and the part and proof that you paid what they asked for. Them coming back to you now is their tough luck.

In the retail world, once a sale is complete, it's complete. If a retailer has made a mistake in the sale, and they don't catch it until after the fact, it is their problem, not the consumer's. For a retailer to call back after the fact and try to get more money is a sign of a couple of things. One, they are about to go under and are grasping at straws, or two, they are complete and total weasels with less than honest business practices. Him calling you names could signal either one, but after reading this I know that I would stay clear of this vendor!
I haven't bought from them, but just the fact he called you idiot and hung up says you've got the upper hand. Basically he showed his hand with that. He knows there's nothing he can do and his frustration got the better of him.

That said, and as a previous poster mentioned, you might want to go ahead and file a disputed charge with your CC company. If he had low enough ethics to call a customer an idiot, I wouldn't put it past someone like that to add the charge to your card. He would still have the card number from the first time.

Good luck!
Thanks for the heads up too. It helps us, the consumers, to know about shady practices by dealers, especially authorized dealers of this site. I know I'll be staying away.

When I order my CP-E intake from Street Unit, they called me to let me know the discount wouldn't be applicable due to the fact that the intake was back-ordered.

The difference here was that I was called BEFORE any part of my order shipped out, and I was given the option to choose a different intake (AEM or Fujita) that would be eligible for the discount.

I'm very surprised that the intake was shipped to you before any issues with the payment were resolved.
Retailer made mistake w/ their actions and website functionality, now retailer has to eat the cost of the mistake.

Their problem, not consumers problem.

Retailer should not have called customer idiot.

Mods end this thread.
jd42 did you get an email as well?
End this thread? Why? All that would do is hurt the consumer because this thread would get pushed off the page and not as many people would see it. You work for Streetunit?

I'm sorry but I don't understand why you feel this thread should be ended. I didn't start this to bash streetunit and already was aware of the things you stated above. I would however like to know if this was happening to anyone else that ordered from them, how their conversations went, and what if any agreement they came to. Maybe I need to read up on why threads are closed but this surely doesn't seem to be one of those.

I really think Streetunit is out of luck. But, I wonder what recourse they have as a business.

I remember reading about some companies sending software to people through the USPS and then asking them to pay for it because they kept it for more than 30 days. Apparently (at the time, anyway) the law was, if you sent something via mail to someone, it's theirs and you don't have the right to ask for money, after the fact. I wonder if this would qualify.

Either way, they sold it to you, you have a receipt, it's yours and they shouldn't be hounding you for more money. I don't want to do business with someone who treats customers that way.
For what it's worth I too had some problems with Street Unit. It was resolved, enventually, but I have to say there seems to be a trend here.

Do you mind saying what happened? I understand if you don't want to, yet I'm curious.
No thread ending to be had here, nothing has been said out of line and its been a very civil discussion. I agree that StreetUnit should be out of luck on this one, no reatiler can ever go back and ask for more money after the fact. Definitely call your CC and make them aware.
You are completely in the right... The only situation I can see where a retailer can request money or product back is when you are charged for a DIFFERENT item... if you an intake but are charged for a lightbulb... we're talking 100's of dollars in difference....

They should catch this before shipping the item however...

That being said... It seems the auto-retailer world is full of scammers and bad companies... I for example ordered some clear blinker 1157's from Street Beat Customs... they sent one wrong bulb... and one right bulb... I have contacted them several times but have gotten no response... And I don't think there is ANYTHING i can do about it =(
the problem w/ threads like this is that they turn into large pissing matches, which is happening because of my suggestions.

go figure

the consumer always wins, if the consumer is smart enough to
Part of the reason why they call us consumers...If a business screws up, We consume them. Literally!!!!
Well i am always sceptical of buisnesses that dont like to post addresses on their site. I made a small order from Street Unit ($10) as a test before i made a larger order (like the ATP Turbo Kit). So far the order has been Processing for 4 days. That combined with this post will most likely keep me from making a larger purchase with them.
Seeing you are making this public, lets put all the facts on here...

The 15% was good for everything on our whole site under $600 EXCEPT back ordered and intro price items. It was for all M6C members. The original thread clearly states this (which is where the coupon code was located) and post #12, 15, and 16 all pertain to the CPE CAI & DP backordered/intro priced and not available for the 15% discount. Jeremys post is #20, after the above information.

Jeremy,
The 15% sponsor coupon is not good on the CPE intake or Exhaust parts, everything else is fair game. It is good on the AEM CAI too. What would you like to do…. Let me know.

I received no response from him via phone or email. The intake came off backorder on 10/27. We still quickly processed his order because most of you guys want your parts ASAP. I ASSUMED (my mistake now) that Jeremy and I could come to an agreement on the 15% the situation and make both parties happy. (And so you guys know, Jeremy's order total didn't cover our costs of the transaction.)

I called him and left him a message 11/16 with my name, company, and phone number. He finally called back today. I asked him jokingly why it took so long to call back and his response was confusingly some what rude. In a cocky tone, he said that when someone leaves a message and doesn't leave what its regarding, its not on the top of his priorities. Myself and the rest of SU are here to help you guys, if someone wants to be a wise guy, it bothers me.

After 15 mins on the phone of going back and forth trying to come to an agreement, Jeremy did not want to remedy the situation at all.

I apologize for calling Jeremy an idiot. I was heated and it really bothers me to put so much time into this industry and to get so very little understanding back whens its us that is asking for help. Because as so many of you know, we are all here to spend however long it takes to fix and trouble shoot any problems you guys encounter.

No credit cards have been charged, thats silly. We do not charge cards without customers consent.
