So i been noticing when it is rly cold out and when i drive over speed bumps at school the suspension makes a really loud squeaky noise. my thoughts are bad shocks or they are loose in the tower ?? its weird because i only notice it over speed bumps. not during normal driving.... :headscrat:

you wanna grease the ball joint bushings that connect the control arm to the wheel hub. the bushing will have a metal adapter on the top like a stem for a grease gun. just make sure you use proper grease. i can take pics when i do mine this weekend. hoping that is the issue.

Ohhh just posted a thread with simmilar compaints, this is a good call man! I gotta try that, cause mine does not RIDE badly like a blow shock, but expecially when it is cold its loud, but for the first few min after leaving the garage it is fine... hrmmmm

Pics would rule!

I'm pretty sure it's the control arm bushings. I had exactly the same problem last year and had all the bushings replaced under warranty along with the passenger-side motor mount (same basic issue - squeaky squeaky). After getting all that shit replaced, the noise disappeared completely. However, this year, it's back. I think it's time for some grease :)

please someone for the love of God, post pics of where i need to lube things up.

I've had sqeaky suspension in the rear for a long time, now its even worse now that i'm lowered. Still only the back. it feels fantastic still, but it just squeaks hardcore.

I'm wondering, what kind of squeak sound do you get?
Mine is like a hard piece of rubber rubs against metal.
And worse, I get the same sound now, while turning the wheel either direction.

I'm getting it with steering input now as well... just too lazy to do it in the cold of winter...

Thanks. I'm having a similar problem that started a couple of days after plowing through wet, sloppy snow for a couple of hours.

I had two noises develop at the same time--groaning, grinding (metal on metal noise) when driving over bumps, and rubber on metal noise when turning the steering wheel. (All noises are heard only on the left front side.) Are both likely the same control arm problem?

Is the grease gun stem already installed (I did not see it when I crawled under the car) or is there a plug that has to be removed and a stem installed? (That's what I have had to do for most of my other newer cars.) Does the factory service manual show the grease fitting locations? I'll do all of them if I can find them.

The car has about 50k miles on it.

Thanks.

I did check the Factory Service Manual. There is no mention of front end lube points or diagrams showing any lubrication or lube points for bushings. Looks like all of them are "permanently lubed". I'll pull a wheel and check this weekend to see if the lube points are capped and if a grease fitting can be inserted. (The weather is improving dramatically this weekend in my area--should be able to wash the car, too!.)

Stiull no lube points

After a thorough inspection, I cannot find any lube points nor caps that can be remove that would allow grease fittings to be installed. I tried squirting silicone lube into all the joints--no help (not surprised!).

If anyone has any suggestions on how to lube these bushings/ball joints (without replacing them!), please let us know.

hey bud sorry i never got back to you about that issue. my car has been down for 3 weeks so i never even looked at that issue... but i did look today and your right there are no grease fittings. these are sealed bushings. so the issue has to be something else but i haven't located it yet.

It does not HAVE to be something else, it could be worn bushings, which would suck.... now that it is warmer my sound has gone away, but i know its just waiting to come back in the cold, or as it wears it may come back 100% of the time.... bummer...

Anyone ever find a long-term fix for this,,,or even what the issue really is? I've got 60k on my '07, the noise started this winter, seemed to go away for a bit when it warmed up, now I've got it 100% of the time in the front. If I turn the steering wheel (especially at a stop) or even just use body weight on the fender to move the front up/down it's all squeek squeek. I got underneath yesterday and used a whole can of silicone spray lube and also some white lithium spray lube and seemed to only make a minor difference. Sounds like shit's broke, but everything seems perfectly fine. Embarrassing in parking lots to say the least.

Mine went completely silent again once the weather really warmed up in late spring. But when I had the car in for an alignment, I asked the tech about it--he thought it was a seal at the top of the shock housing. I thought I saw a similar post on this forum, but cannot find it now.
