Went to the track today, it was cold and was able to get several back-to-back runs in.

run#, 60', 330', 1/8 mile, 1/4 mile.
2, 1.94 , 5.75 , 8.88 @ 80.2 , 13.844 @ 99.0
3, 1.89 , 5.71 , 8.85 @ 79.4 , 13.849 @ 98.4
4, 2.01 , 5.80 , 8.91 @ 80.3 , 13.863 @ 99.2
5, 1.96 , 5.74 , 8.89 @ 77.8 , 13.910 @ 97.7 - Video
1, 1.90 , 5.72 , 8.90 @ 77.4 , 13.934 @ 97.4 - Shifting Video

I didn't break into the 14's once! Boost guage shows that above 5500 RPM it drops from 15PSI to around 11PSI. Seems like in 1st and 2nd gear it doesn't even boost to 15PSI, but I'm watching RPMs not boost so it's hard to get a good read.

My car is reflashed, stock but with no resonator (intake silencer).

I cant even get low 14's in my GT with CAI. I was running VTA last night tho... hmmmm.

I also suck at racing.

i need help getting my 60's down to 1.9 or less...then get my shift to second to be less awful. ive read post after post, but i still couldnt do any better than 2.05. what a waste too, since i was trapping 101. grrr

99RT Eh,

How were you launching it this time, are you getting a little more aggressive. My boost peaks at 21.75 psi
(1.5 Bar) then to about 15.6 psi (1.1 Bar) @ 5500 rpm, to 7 psi (.5 Bar) at about 5800-6000 rpm. I think not being able to shift the cars at redline in each gear, really screws up the times and the top speed on the unflashed cars. At 7psi it feels like it's coasting for the last half of 4th gear, but it's not worth shifting into 5th gear at that point.

Do you know how much longer Cayuga is open this year.

Very consistent runs, good job.

Regards,

Rocket 6 :drive:

This was while running the 13.94. This is how fast you need to shift...
Shifting

I went back to my original method of launching...Rev it and let the clutch out at a quick consistent rate. I found that holding 3rd gear to 6000 RPM yields a little quicker time (4th run / 13.86) had a 2.0 60' but I still managed a 13.86 because I held 3rd a little longer.

Cayuga is open until end of Nov. Might go back after I get the CAI.

Took my brother today, we swapped between the Neon and the Speed 6... He ran 14.3s in my 6 while I ran 15.4s in the Neon, we swapped and I ran 13.8s while he ran 16.6s in the Neon. Tells you how much of a drivers race it really is.

You are totally right man. It is all in the driver. I went to the track for the first time in my life today and the best I could get was 14.3 @ 95.6. I went in there real cocky telling my wife that a 13 was definent, I was wrong. But, I know what I have to improve on and that is the launch. On my best run of the day, was 60ft time was 2.095. I have to learn how to launch better, and Im trying to figure out if powershifting is the way to go or not. I think that it was good for my first time, and the good thing is I will easily improve in 2 weeks when I go back.

What was the ambient on you run of the shifting vid?
[/b]
Between 6C and 9C.

What do you think of the Skull? :)

#14 ·
Skull was interesting..... those low temperature must have felt great...
[/b]
It was the back to runs that did the trick. Pretty much ran a 1/4, drove back and waited for 1 or 2 other cars to go infront of me. We were able to do 7 passes in 45 minutes, then the really fast (<10s) cars started to line up and break. It took over an hour to do my last 13.91 pass.

Now to read up on the launching....

Was watching your video and saw this one:

STI doing donuts

No way we could that with our speed6 :)

Not that I've tried or anything :D
[/b]
And one would want to do that in the Speed why? :slap:

WRX = Rally roots
MS6 = No rally roots

Because it's a blast? I do it all winter long...

I'm just jealous cuz I don't get snow/ice to play with. ;) Go Texas! On the good note, I NEVER have to worry about buying snow tires/rims. :yesnod:

i know im off topic like everyone else but, lol...koko, you gotta try coming up to snow country and doing some driving. it's worth the mild frostbite!
i took our hemi magnum on a ski trip last year with snow tires on...there is a 4 acre parking lot and i decided to take the DSC off and do some donuts. well, under the 1 inch of snow was a few inches of ice and we spun for days, it was fabulous :)
