I picked this up at BLOX this weekend; its made by NNR and I got it for $10. Apparently its a $45 shift knob.

It doesnt weigh that much more but it is noticeable. The sir put on the right thread adapter on it for no additional cost! They had heavier ones for only $30; I should have picked one up.

For the spacer in the shaft, I actually used a binder clip and then took off the clippy ends. Worked much better than I expected, then I dont have to work with silly zip ties and such. I used one that was almost exactly the length I needed to move it up by (completely by accident). I can take pictures of the internals if requested.

Tell me what you guys think!

EDIT: I just noticed myself in the reflection in the knob. Haha

Here is my Razo 400gram black leather with red stitching; I picked it up on Amazon for $32 shipped.
I'm considering lowering it by taking out the spacing adapter it came with - it will drop it by about 18mm. Does it look silly with so much of the metal rod showing? I can't recall how high the stock knob was...

At any rate, the red stitching is a very close match (in color and texture) to the stitching on my seats. It nearly looks factory. Plus, it feels much more ergonomic than the stock shift knob.

I have the same one but manual version, although mine didnt come with silly sticker/emblem on the back. Just leather. And without the spacer it sits flush with the boot. If I was you, I would definitely lower it down, with automatic you only shift it once, it's not like you need a higher point of leverage for easier shifting like manuals.

Yeah, I kinda wish mine didn't have the logo on the back. It is metallic so it looks 'nice' at least - but it makes it obvious that it isn't stock.

I'm going to have to dig that spacer out using a knife or something... it's really in there good...

I'm thinking of this, from the Miata:

GEARSHIFT KNOB (6-SPEED M/T)

There's no better way to top off one of the finest manual gearboxes than with one of these sporty shift knobs.

Description
Part Number
Price

Wood
N122-V8-170F
$143.95

--> Aluminum and Leather
N125-V8-170F
$126.95

Just checked my online Mazda parts source. Tempting at $95.

I'd bet my local wholesale Japanese parts guy can beat that. :D

this knob is great it has a good weight to it so it feels real good when shifting

So I'm ready to do my first mod on my 2014 touring 6sp and I want to start by changing the shifter. So what a better way than to get ideas from those who already have done it <img src="http://forum.mazda6club.com/images/smilies/8.gif" border="0" alt="" title=":p" class="inlineimg" />.

They have a manual for the 2014? Nice. How about a wagon manual??

Can I see a picture of the car? Was hoping they made a manual wagon for that year!
There is indeed a 3rd gen wagon in manual transmission AND all wheel drive... BUT, they unfortunately don't import it to the north American market. Thus, we in the states are left to drool over the car we want that exists, but we can't have ?
