Any knob will work as long as the thread is M10x1.25

I'm thinking of this, from the Miata:

GEARSHIFT KNOB (6-SPEED M/T)

There's no better way to top off one of the finest manual gearboxes than with one of these sporty shift knobs.

Description
Part Number
Price

Wood
N122-V8-170F
$143.95

--> Aluminum and Leather
N125-V8-170F
$126.95

***
Just checked my online Mazda parts source. Tempting at $95.

I'd bet my local wholesale Japanese parts guy can beat that. :D

Ah, good ol' Momo...but that's from the 1st Gen NA Miata. Yes? Have you tried fitting it on your M6?

I'll go fire an email with VIN to my online parts guy tomorrow to see if the N125-V8-170F would fit...I need the H pattern just in case say..someone other than me would drive the car. Guidance needed. Lol..

Hehe... you said knob.

The MX-5 knobs look great on almost anything. The carbon MX-5 knobs look nice as well, but I'm not sure the weight. Typically you'll want to go a little heavier than whatever you're upgrading from to help smooth out shifts. But as long as you don't go with a universal knob with set screws you'll probably be fine (FWIW, all TWM knobs thread on).

My 1g is a 5s, so I stole a knob off a 1g Mazda3. Heavier, smaller and cleaner-looking than the stock baseball. Cleaned up shift-throws nicely.

My 2014 w/auto trans has that ugly plastic keyway that the shifter travels through and I thought it would be pretty neat to have the leather boot look that a manual shifter would have. Has anyone done it or know if it's do-able? It would keep all the dust and crud out of the shifter as well - I hate cleaning that area out!

Sweet, just need to source the parts then. I was poking around and found this:
MAZDA-3-5-6-RX8-4-5LEATHER-VIP-BLUE-LED-AUTOMATIC-SHIFT-SHIFTER
Not sure about blue LED - car is soul red with the black interior - but I kinda like the concept.
Don't quote me on that, but it looks like it should just snap in. Might not even need a center trim plate, the shift boot might just slide onto the silver trim ring, but there's no way to know until you compare them.

As for the shift knob, I shy away from illuminated knobs because 1) you have ugly wires running down your shifter and 2) you have to wire them to the dimmer switch, and that's never a fun wire to tap into. Plus after a few weeks you start to get tired of the illumination, especially if nothing else in the car matches it.

I tend to agree about illuminated interior trim, but that's what caught my eye about this piece - no wiring (rechargeable battery operated) and it shuts off after 90 seconds of you not fiddling with it. It comes on when you touch it or if you wave your hand at it. Anyway, just thought I'd post it since I've never really seen anything of the kind before. :)

Jeez can you please hook us up with some info on your sources?! I had to pull teeth to get a shift knob for my wife's miata at 131!!!! (auto though, for some reason those are more expensive -.-.. knew that decision was gonna be costly long term) Though they did ACT like that was below cost.. (right..)
