Hi guys,

I'm not sure what to think of Sure Motorsports and want to hear what others think. Sure Motorsports recently opened shop with a bunch of what appears to be very good "me too" products.

On the one hand I welcome a new supplier that is focused on the Mazdaspeed platforms but on the other hand I can't help but feel they are 'stealing' from the existing suppliers that invested in the platforms earlier. Ultimately, I'm worried that this new comer will make things worse for us because the old suppliers will not have enough income from their existing products to fund new ones. Also, since Sure hasn't shown any big innovation this may signal the end of new products for us. See the problem? What do you think?

Not convinced they have me too products?

Aeros
This is a cross between the successful COBB SRI and the cp-e Xcel Nano. COBB was the innovator here by providing an very good alternative to the CAIs on the market. cp-e then put their spin on a short intake and made one out of metal instead of plastic and silicone tubing. Sure takes the metal MAF housing idea from cp-e and combines it with the quieter silicone tube from the COBB piece. I'm sure the Aeros is a good product simply because I know both the COBB and cp-e products are good.

Sidewinder
This looks like a copy of the COBB TIP but with stronger joint pipes that will resist kinking when the clamps are over tightened. That's a small innovation but do we need this alternative? At least cp-e offers a version that is made for bigger turbos.

Dreadnaught
This is another rear differential brace. There's no description on the Sure site yet so we can't comment on it too much but do we need another option? Aren't the SU or cp-e parts enough?

R6
I assume this will be a rear motor mount similar to that offered by SU and cp-e. I wonder what innovation Sure will bring to one of the oldest replacement parts on the speed 6 platform.

They have other parts but you get the picture.

This is important to me because I've been waiting for my car's warranty to expire before modding it and I'm now ready to buy all the above parts either from COBB, cp-e, or now Sure. If I buy from Sure I'd want to know that 1) they'll use the money to make other products and 2) there's also more of you willing to do the same so they can actually make it happen. If the majority of you will shun Sure then my money would be better spent supporting COBB and cp-e and hope they'll continue developing products for us.

I'd really like to hear what you guys think.

Cheers!

They seem to be well built products, and they definitely look gorgeous (for what that's worth since you'll never see some of the stuff). But you're right, Everything they've made is already on the market, and they're pretty basic mods - hard to improve on simple products. I'm sure they've got more threads concerning future products on other forums, but I don't frequent them. The other thing tho is these are easy parts to make just to get their feet wet, so hopefully they'll be capable of producing some more big HP rides for us, but only time will tell.

Their shop is only like 1.5 hrs from where I live (as is SU). Next time I go out to SU HQ I'm wanting to swing by SURE to see what they're all about. I'll post up for ya when I get over there

Indeed the Sure products look very good and tempting. Most of you guys have already purchased these upgrades. Hopefully some folks that are just starting to mod their car will chime in.

i was wondering about these products too since i seen them pop up on SU. hopefully we get some people to leave feedback on quality. prices are about even with everything else so its only a matter of which brand u prefer in my opinion.

SU basically told me that their diffmount was not going to come back into stock and they pushed me to buy the Sure mount, which in the end I did accept. Same goes for the shifter bushings I also tried to order from SU. Despite the price difference they only charged me for the price of the SU products! This made me very happy obviously and once the products arrive on the 30th I will be sure to report on it. Unfortunately I only have the stock pieces to compare it to so it may be of no use but its still better than not knowing anything about Sure products. Has anyone else bought anything from Sure, or am I the guinea pig?

I'm impressed with the presentation. I won't need any of their current products, but I'm going to watch this company and their future products, as well as customer feedback. The fact that they are Mazda-specific is a plus in my opinion.

I plan on purchasing what they call their "Anchors" . I love the idea of having your own terminology for your products. Kinda makes them seem more fun! And yes, their presentation on their products are fantastic for a company that makes automotive parts. It's almost unreal to put forth that work so I'm assuming they are here to stay as a driving force in innovation for our cars. At least that's my speculation at this early stage in the game

its the premium line for Street unit. made by street unit. you have nothing to worry about. check out the mazdaspeed forums. alot of people have been buying them, and pulling off CPE parts to run these. seems like alot of happy customers so far.

I checked out the website and the parts offered for the Speed6. IMO, they are certainly as good or better than the CPE parts. I think the Cobb MAF housing is a better design, but only because of the larger "cone" area to direct the air straight(er) into the housing. Think "velocity stack" effect. The SURE MAF housing appears to be great construction though. I almost bought the SRI just to try it out, but I haven't even found the time to fix my VVT yet, so....

I have the 3" CS MAF housing if I need more intake area in the future, but the Cobb housing flows plenty of air for now.

I checked out what the Mazdaspeed forums guys were saying. Lots of enthusiasm there for sure. A few have posted install pics from MS3s.

Yeah FORZDA1, am sure the the whole forum here is waiting for you to get your VVT fixed. We're curious about that BNR stage 3 turbo! ;)

I bought the Sure sri when Cobb was on back order for their black sri. To be honest, I haven't had any previous experience with intakes, but I went with the Sure because it's very identical to the Cobb but with an aluminim MAF housing. Installation went as well as one could hope for given that i was dark and without instructions. One thing I wish the Aero had was a better mounting bracket, similar to the Cobb. I bolted the included bracket underneath the battery tray, per SU's customer service instructions. It's mated to a black Cobb tip for a nice sleek look under the hood.

Before purchase, I looked at a Cobb sri in person and the Sure appears to be made with similar materials and should be just as durable.

^looks good. I see you didn't remove the resonator part of the old intake. Might I suggest that you plug the opening if you don't plan on removing it?

You know, I had an inkling that's what it was. Their logos were too similar to be different lol. Regardless, hopefully they make some bigger better products than just what's already out on the market. We're a dying breed but SU seems stubborn and sticking to us MS ppls lol
