So I just bought a new 2010 6 Sport, and I'm interested in a remote starter. The dealer installed version was ridiculously expensive and is pretty lean on features, so I'm looking for an aftermarket starter.

Can anyone suggest a good starter for 300 or less? I have been looking at the Viper - 5301.

My GF has it on her 2010 Mazda 3 and it's awesome! Great features. It was more than $300 total to get it installed....I think it was closer to $400 for her.

I installed mine, fairly easy. I have the Mazda unit.
I do not like the Mazda unit though, because after you start the engine, it will turn itself off if you grab the outer door handles or open the trunk. Why Mazda decided to do this, I have no idea.
Once you get into the car, the normal ignition system should take over as if you put in the key, all without stopping the engine.

The main factor that will determine if you can even use an aftermarket system is if it will work with the keyless ignition system.

even aftermarket ones do this, such as mine...its a mazda intelligent key / push button problem. some cars have bypasses to get around this but nothing from dei yet for our car... what a suprise =/
