"Hello,

I was wondering if you have any plans to do high flow cats for the Mazda 6
V6. Apparently it has precats in the headers and one cat for each bank of
cylinders...
What I'm wondering is if it would be possible to use an aftermarket set of
headers without the precats and high flow main cats and still pass
emissions tests. I know there is a lot of HP to be freed up in this vehicle, but I
do not want to do anything that will prevent it from passing emissions tests.

Any info or ideas you might have will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jonathan"

They responded:

"Providing your engine is tuned properly, you should have no problem passing
an emissions test without pre-cats. However, some localities have a visual
inspection and it would obviously not pass if the original equipment
configuration is required.

Whether we build main converters will depend on demand for them. At this
point, yours is the only request, but I'm sure that's because the car is
still relatively new."

So Lets go people !!! Send them a request...

Not sure when you emailed them, but I emailed them yesterday. So yours shouldn't be the only request. :)

Some provisions would also have to be made to compensate for the different signal on the first set of O2 sensors... I think duratecperformance mentioned a possible electronic solution to that (otherwise CELs may result).

Don't know if this is good new, but news nonetheless. Here's the response I received:

"It will probably be another 30 days before we have a chance to evaluate
whether we'll be building a direct fit high flow converter for the 6i/6s."

Are they before? For some reason I thought they were after... I'm trying to remember why I had a conversation about this with DuratecPerf in another thread. But I'm too lazy to search. Oh well :)

Well, from a picture I saw in another thread, I think they're just ahead of the cats. But I'm not sure what you meant by "first set" as I would think there would only be one before each cat. Anyway, Random usually takes these into account when they make high flow cats for specific models, and adds a port to install them just like the stock pipe.

Sometimes cars will have two sets of 02's if there are precats in order to determine if the precats are firing... if the o2 voltages are the same, a CEL will occur...

With the fords MILs will often turn on your CEL. A chip will most often turn this off and all would be well. I have not heard good things about the Mil Eliminators overall.

E-mail Random people get these made! I want them to be availabe by the rime I take delivery of my car!
