Racing Beat Axelback installed and reviewed!!

Recently installed a set of Racing Beat axel back mufflers for the 6s and thought I'd throw up a video clip and a quick review. :)

I was looking for an exhaust that is livable on a day to day basis so it had to be reasonably quiet inside the cabin. But I was looking for a more aggressive low toned grunt compared to stock.

The Racing Beat description is pretty much accurate with my experiences. If there's one word I could use to describe it, it is this subtle.

Its almost like a gentleman's exhaust upgrade compared to full blown cat backs.

Installation
I installed it without any jack stands and just the car on the ground. Two nuts were extremely rusted and caked on, and even after spraying penetrating lubricant I ended up stripping two nuts. I had to use special stripped nut removers to undo them. Other than that, it was easy.

Quality
Perfect fit, no fitment issues. Is roughly the same weight, maybe a few pounds heavier than stock, so stock exhaust hangers appear to be adequate. The casing and piping itself seems to be of very high quality and not likely to rust -- unlike those oem mufflers.

Aesthetics
Looks are subjective, but the word that best describes it is 'subtle'. My personal opinion is that it looks great. Definitely gives the car a more sportier look, and the Racing Beats make stock mufflers look like tiny toy pipes. Again, it is a very subtle upgrade and is not in your face.

Sound
The video clip is not an exact representation so use it as a guideline. Outside it has a nice low rumble at idle, and has a good throaty sound when flooring it. It is shockingly close to stock, when engine RPM is less than 2000rpm, and greater than 3000rpm. I am sensitive to in cabin droning, but these are perfect for those who want an exhaust for a daily driver. Between 2000rpm and 3000rpm when accelerating, you do hear it and know its there. But its definitely 'subtle' and 'modest'. Turn up the volume on the radio to >15 or so, you won't hear it.

One warning though, if you want an exhaust that you can hear outside as well as inside, you should go with an cat back replacements like Injen, Magnaflow, or Mazdaspeed. In terms of db, Racing Beat is probably the quietest of the pack since it does not replace the stock resonator.

These can wake up the neighbors if you rev the engine, but if you cruise its very civilized. Those wanting more grunt inside the cabin should look elsewhere.

Video
Without further adiou, here is a clip I slapped together last night. Enjoy!

Here's what the advertiser claims. Based on my experiences, these are very accurate statements.

Unlike many aftermarket systems that utilize a universal muffler, the Racing Beat system features a canister designed specifically for the Mazda 6. On our system, the inlet and outlet tubing positions have been placed lower on the muffler canister to allow the muffler unit to be positioned higher under the rear bumper. This design offers a more modest “look” and minimizes the risk of damage to the muffler that can occur navigating driveways, speed bumps, etc..

Like all Racing Beat exhaust systems, this Mazda 6 system is designed to offer a moderate sound increase over the stock system. This system will not produce any harsh, buzzy, “tinny”, or droning tones either during hard acceleration or extended highway driving.

Awesome clip... didn't get any sound tho.
It works fine for me.
Nice going Spidy, you have joined the Racing Beat club.
sounds good Spidy :) dont you just luv how as soon as you turn the key she sounds mean now :D fitment seems to be great but a little hard to tell in the video, pics would be awesome...

great video, it sounds like its a deep tone which is awesome... you should throw up some pics of the exhaust...

yeah the stock system is all rusted up, i recently replaced mine w/ Injen and the stock was all rusty and nasty...

congrats and now you can say Vroom Vroom instead of zoom zoom :)
What companies offer an axle back exhaust beside racing beat? I like the fact they aren't that loud, that is exactly what i'm looking for. All the pricing i have seen shows they are more expensive than a Magnaflow catback system. It seems they should be cheaper since basically they are nothing more than replacment mufflers.

Worked fine for me. Maybe you're missing some codecs. I've put up an alternative location in mpg format.

Yep. Codec issue with Media Player. UTube worked fine.

Very nice sound. Very reminiscent of the MS catback that I've heard on a few members' cars, yet a bit different.

I like how the tips look too.

Good work Spidy.
excellent, although im still waiting for someone with a 6i to throw up a video/soundclip.
So I'm guessing there is gonna be a Magnaflow vs Mazdaspeed vs Racing beat Direct Comparo video clip at our next meet SPidy?? :D
yup...I've gotten quite a few compliments about my exhaust from perfect strangers due the looks. As you said...subtle. Im not into big tin cans, as I would be a "sophisticated ricer" LOL. Sound is undeniable...you can always pick out an RB, and with an intake people out walking take cover as you drive by. :)

Iluv2zmzm has some shots in his thread on the Injens and the ground clearance seemed fine in his before last shot taken (what's the clearance like Bro ?)
The RB tips are not to my taste - rounded by the inside + the video clip kinda annoyed me for some reason (first time this happens) hey ; to each 's likin' ! I'd love to hear all of'em side by side though including me favourite Injens !

STSCS has them on his 6i. i also have the racing beat exhaust on my 6s. hearing both in person they are a very comparable sound. if you like the sound of the 6s you wont be disapointed with the 6i.

I believe MzBuckEye also has them on his 6i... and he seems to swear by the sound. So perhaps hit him up and he'll make a clip for you.

The RB produces a very low toned grumble without giving people in the car head-aches. I love turning on the engine in the morning now :) In addition, I always found the 6s to have a bit of a whining/vacuming cleaner sounding engine when cruising in 1st gear and under 3500RPM.

With the exhaust, it seems to have gotten rid of it and replaced it with a low toned grumble.
im actually reconsidering getting me magnaflow for christmas now ;)
hmmmm
at first racingbeat didnt seem to be enough for me, now it seems just fine. I guess it just depends on which one i can get a steal on .
Spidy !!,,,,,do you have the cp-e headers on your car ???? Is there anyone you know and heard with the RB exhaust and the cp-e Headers??..Wondering how that might sound !?

Oooh Babay! Just ordered mine!
At first I wanted a regular old sports sedan...what is this car doing to me????
