All,
I got my speed6 back in January. It already had a corksport Exhaust on it and I found it to be kinda loud and tough on the ears. So, I added a Magnaflow muffler and even some Dynamat in the Trunk. It helped slightly, but, I still felt the Exhaust noise was not that pleasant at times and competed with the radio. So, I got a can of Cascade Quiet Kote. I sprayed the wheel wells and then above the exhaust. Next day, I drove to work and it seemed quieter, but, I thought that might be a placebo effect. I still had 1/2 can, so, I used the rest and sprayed all above the exhaust front to back. Figured worst case is it would do nothing and I am only out $15, but, I will say it has helped. Not a night/day differnce, but, seems to have taken some of the edge off to the exhaust and in cabin noise/vibration seems reduced. So, I recommend this to anyone wanting to quiet things down a little. Next, I am going to Dynamat the 4 doors in hopes of the Bose sounding better and to reduce vibration/cabin noise even more.

How much weight would you estimate you're adding with your deadening efforts?

Well, the Dynamat trunk kit I would guess was like 20 pounds. The Quiet Kote spray wouldn't count. The muffler I added was light..probably a few pounds. The door kits I plan on adding weigh 10 pounds total. So, in total, approx 35 pounds.

If I ever get an exhaust system, I don't want it to be too loud and cause vibrations in the cabin. I thought CorkSport was on the quiet side compared to other exhaust systems?

I take it the 'Speed 6 doesn't have the same kind of "carpeted" fenderliners the made in Michigan i and S do.

After I rolled the fenders, I tried to spray the fenders where I had rolled it with a can of aerosol truck bedliner. That carpeted fenderliner just soaks it up like a sponge  I could probably empty a whole can in just one liner.

And here's the mazdaspeed gremlin kicking in-

half & half here :)

Mines got hard plastic in the front and what I'd generously call "carpet-like" material in the back. Let's call it fuzzy plastic, rather than something like my A4, which had some serious carpet in the wheel well.
