I was just wondering, since its clear from DP's inital tests that the pre-cats in the stock exhaust manifold are quite restrictive, is it possible to remove them from the exhaust manifold with out removing the rest of the stock exhaust system? Are the embedded inside, or are the a seperate component?

It's a similar setup in a Contour and it's a pretty effective and worthwhile mod.
1. Cut a door in the side of the pre-cat with a dremel...
2. Bash everything out with a screwdriver
3. Clean the manifold out with a high pressure wash to get the leftover dust out.
4. Weld the door closed.
5. Buy MIL Eliminators to keep the Check engine light monster away
The contours are lucky enough to have one manifold that is a straight shot. Here's a pic of the finished product...
