I don't want to install a 3rd party dash in my car. Why are we made to pay extra and research fixes for a problem that needs to be resolved by Mazda.

They need to accept the fact they royally Fuc*ed up and they need to give us a fix. I've had this car for 5 months and nothing from them.

Yes pretty much that they are aware of the issue and there currently is no ETA.

Here is the response from today:

"

I apologize for any inconvenience and understand your frustration. I can assure you that Mazda is aware of this issue but there is no exact ETA for any updates. Sorry about that.

I emailed Mazda USA early in June and got their standard "works as designed" cop out response. This is positive that they are now admitting these USB issues and working on a solution. Mazda, please make my USB zoom zoom like the rest of the car.

It is a cop out response and what makes you think they're working on a solution? This car has been out for 6 months now and no sign of any updates or a decent response from Mazda.

Mazda has a month (I'll give them until mid August) to give us an update on this issue or I will go all out with a news/media/blogger/reviewer (I will spare no venue) onslaught of ALL the issues plaguing the Mazda 6.

I have a 2014 sport, so I don't have the touch screen stereo, but it works fine with my 16GB iPod Nano which is mostly full. I've also used my girlfriend's iPhone 4S and it seemed to work fine as well. Playlists and everything work as they should. I've also used a micro sd card with a USB adapter loaded up with a few mp3s and it worked pretty well also. It even remembered where it left off after turning the car off, taking the usb drive out and putting it back when I drove next.

Welcome to Mazda 6 Club forums.

Do you have the direct link for that post on the German forum?

And to answe your question, we can start an online petition?

I spoke with my customer service rep from Mazda yesterday again (my 3rd call) and nothing....no promise of an update, same answer. Working as designed. We spoke for a solid 20 minutes but they're not doing anything to make up to the consumer or any sort of recourse.

Produktänderungen liegen jedoch in dessen Entscheidung.

Jens ********

I have the same issue in my 2014 Mazda 6 GT. Mazda service played the stupid card like they were not aware of this issue. It's in all the 2014 model cars. They changed the head unit and they need to get a solution to this problem adap

i have the same issues with the iPod: delayed connection, no resume playback. Not sure if anyone else has noticed this yet, but my shuffle feature for ipod play isn't much of a shuffle at all... it plays the same songs in the same order about 90% of the time.

also noticed that bluetooth takes a little longer than it should to connect to my phone and to pandora.

I am a huge fan of the "it works as designed" cop out as well... i mean it makes perfect sense that mazda would take something that was performing perfectly fine as an 'industry standard' from the 2013 models and redesign it with less functionality for 2014 (note the sarcasm). what they should have said was, we realize this is an issue and are working diligently towards a resolution. And if they were feeling especially generous, add a 'Please accept this (insert awesome gift here) for the inconvenience of spending 30k on a vehicle that probably hit the showroom floor before we performed a sufficient amount of field testing to iron out these sorts of kinks.'

huge annoyance

This feature is beyond bad. I love the car but to foul this up as bad as they did is ridiculous. And then to not even acknowledge it makes it even worse. I hope they find a patch or some other type of fix ASAP.

Reading this thread makes me sad. I love love love my car and have had my 2014 touring for a month. I'm finding my own gripes with the audio system.

I have an Android phone, and while I understand that we're living in an iphone world (where everything is built to be mostly/only Apple product compatible), I'm still having problems that I think shouldn't be issues. While the phone will broadcast my Google Music over bt, and even display track info, that's all it'll do. I expected to connect to Slacker Radio and at least have it display the track info, but no dice... though I'm not sure if that's something that other cars will do anyway.

I thought that maybe connecting via USB would solve the issue (bt seems a little weak - or something, anyway - clearing the song info display occasionally and then reloading), but the navi screen doesn't even register anything being plugged in, keeping the USB tab greyed out.

I haven't even plugged in my ipod yet, but with it nearly full of music, I'm dreading doing it and anticipating waiting for-freakin'-ever for the music to load. I suppose I need to do it ASAP, though, so I can go ahead and send my huffy email to Mazda to add to their growing list of unhappy audiophiles.

Two words: womp womp. :(

To answer the Slacker and the data showing on the screen, it really depends on the app. I've driving many, many cars and anything besides the stock music player, google music and pandora will display the data on he car's audio screen. So some apps will work and some will not.

The USB port will not read any Android phones that does not support the UMS mode. With that being said, the USB tab will not light up. This will happen in pretty much 90% of all cars out on the road. It does love Apple tho.

I gave up on using the USB port for anything. It is too frustrating to wait for the system to catalog your entire music over and over again.

Ah, thanks for the heads up on the UMS mode thing... I found a fix but will need to re-root my phone first to give it a shot. (play store link)

I'm so used to my android phone and being able to make it do whatever I want - be it through sideloading, rooting, or something Tasker-based - that dealing with this archaic head unit is driving me bananas.

Way ahead of you on the UMS app. My S3 is root and I've tried the app. The car will recognize and the USB tab will show up but it will not load any of the Music that is stored on the phone. I've also tried this in a Lexus and it reads no files found.

I've heard the HTC phones should work since they have UMS support from the manufacture.
