Here's some shots of the car with the new Eibach springs, RX-8 wheels and Goodyear Eagle tires. I think these cars really look much nicer with the larger wheels. Ride quality is still very good using 235-45-18 tires.

I would like to see Mazda make a serious performance version of this car sometime in the future-

Like dropping the EcoBoost 3.5L in with AWD. Sure Ford does not own as much of Mazda anymore but they do still share a little.

That looks real nice, I am hoping to do the same thing pretty soon. Springs will be here soon, now I just have to find some wheels!

Whereabouts are you located? I noticed your location wasn't filled out.

Just wondering, since I'd love to know just how those Goodyears are working out for you, and whether or not they'll see any snow. They are the Eagle GTs, right?

I live in Dayton, OH area...sw Ohio. We see a fair amt of snow so these Goodyears are only going to be 3 season tires...saving the factory 16's for the bad stuff.
Tire Rack gave the Eagle GT's a pretty fair ranking so I'm giving them a try. So far I like them. They're not loud at all, stick well in dry and wet, and look nice.

Cool. Let me know how the GTs do over time, I'm looking to replace the shitty OEM Michelins, and they're on my list.

As for your 16s, are you getting winter tires for 'em?

Hi,
Great look!

I have Eagle GT on oem 17", better look than stock Michelin and far better grip.
I would like to lower my car too but the roads here are pretty bad (Quebec...)
The drop probably wont hurt you that much...I haven't noticed any scraping on curbs and the ride is still fairly compliant. Most of my friends couldn't tell any difference other than the improvement in the wheel gap. I would stay with a stock size tire and don't get too crazy with a short sidewall tire.

Our roads here in sw Ohio are destroyed...I'm so sick of the orange barrels!

I had Eagle GT's on my previous car ( i just got my mazda a week ago) and they were great. im in CA and i did get some snow over the 2 years i had them, and in the light snow we got here they did very well IMHO. When i get new wheels i will def put them on my Mazda. my only gripe about them is they dont last very long.

I used the Eibach springs and they have been great so far....I've not had any strut issues at all. I was a bit concerned about winter driving in heavier snow but the car has been great. My front air deflector has slightly scraped a couple of times on steep drives but nothing bad at all.
I'm back using the stock 16" wheels for winter so I'm anxious for spring to arrive to put the 18's back on...I think the car looks so much better with them.
