Hello all, I have a 2005 2.3L Mazda 6i and would love to start upgrading performance wise. The only mods I have done have been visual. I am very confused about starting to upgrade performance as I do not have that much money. Let's say I have a good $500 dollars I have to start. What should I do? Basically, I really want better acceleration. I get smoked at stoplights. I have been recommended a cold air intake(AEM or K&N- Does anyone have experience with either?), change gear ratio, switch out timing belt, add exhaust (a little expensive for right now). What should I do!?

-Thanks

mtx or atx?

we don't have a timing belt

why change the gear ratio's?

exhaust won't really add much power, but it might change a tad though most of the upgrade impacts sound/visual. a simple swap of mufflers is a cheap upgrade as well.

IMHO, I would buy a cold air intake, probably the most basic upgrade, adds some noticable power, and will save you some gas. I have the Injen CAI, I think there is a CP-E one out there that is supposed to be about the best, but it costs a bit more.
