Hey Guys!!

6Club is considering offering paid memberships with additional perks if there is enough interest. We know that the current file sizes for attachments are a major concern, and we are seeking input as to what else you would like to see. This is your site, so please let us know what your thoughts are, and what you would like to see offered.

Some possible options include:

-Larger file size for attachments
-Increased PM Mailbox
-Less Advertising
-Bold/Colored User Name
-Membership Status
-Mazda6Club Stickers
-Annual or Lifetime Memberships

Please understand that nothing is written in stone, and we are trying to gauge interest here. I have no idea how much a paid memberships will be just yet, and again this just to get the ball rolling! The Administrator will be chiming in as well as things progress.

Thanks in advance for your input and interest! :)

THIS
-Bold/Colored User Name
=MSF BULLSHIT, DO NOT WANT.

-Larger file size for attachments
why? use a photo hosting site.

-Increased PM Mailbox
again, why? forward or copy/paste if you need to keep messages.

-Less Advertising
there's hardly any advertising as is, but it doesn't bother me enough to ever pay for it to be removed.

^I take it you're not interested, lol. This would be optional, not mandatory in case there is any confusion there. A few people have spoken up showing interest in increasing the file size. I understand what you are saying, and if you're not interested then you don't have to upgrade.

Personally most of those things i wouldn't use much of, but would be good perks if you need them. however i would hope that not upgrading wouldn't cut out the functionality of the site. many sites that do this will cut down the capabilities of the unpaid membership so much that it forces the users to upgrade. Thats my only concern, but otherwise not a bad idea.

If you do decide to upgrade your membership, it will not affect any of the current uses/restrictions/perks that 6Club forum members enjoy now. That would hardly be fair to the membership as a whole. If anything, we would add EXTRA perks, not take away the current ones.

Again, we're just throwing around ideas here. No official changes will be made, yet... :)

you would be correct. but PLEASE don't bold or color paying members user names, thats all i ask. also, is the little graphic below your user title all that necessary? to me it almost seems arrogant/egotistical, like it makes you better than the non paying members.

just some things to take into consideration whether this goes forwards or not.

Kris- I was asked if I wanted to join the moderator team, and I said I would. They stuck that title below my name, and I had no choice in the matter. It differs from all the other moderators (such as MS6Greyhost's above) "super moderator" title, as this is a trial period for me being a moderator. I hate the gold bar/title, and I actually asked if it could be removed when I first saw it. It's not going to change if/until I become a supermod, then it will look like the other moderators' titles.

Your argument of why you do not want to upgrade your account, and your suggestions of what you don't want to see if we move forward with this are noted, thank you.

That is awesome to hear! I, prob along with some others here, have been a part of a forum that without the "premium" membership the site is useless. I have also seen a forum knock everyones rights down (those that didnt upgrade) when they decided to go with this idea. So i am very happy to hear that 6Club wont be going in those directions. I am all for an optional "premium" membership with extra perks!

I think this is an awesome idea! I do have to agree though with the segregating the donated and non-donated, that wouldn't be a good one.

Although I think this site is awesome, we need to consider the reasons why MSF has the upper hand as far as offering incentives for members who have donated:

- Porn (obviously)
- VIP section that includes extensive maps for tuning, computer stuff, free tech manuals (which is why I donated in the first place), and shit, they even have cooking recipes over there! (yeah I cook, and what!?)
- Smart phone resources (Which I love)
- They have stuff relating to drugs, they allow to post street racing vids, and pretty much get away with shit
- the shout box alone is great

I'm NOT by any means being a spokesperson for MSF at all. I'm throwing out the reasons why it's the most Mazda enthusiasts site around. Sure there's a lot of assbags over there, but that's how it is when you have that many members. The atmosphere is the type where anything goes which is very inviting. Nothing against M247, but it flat out sucks over there because there's too many squares and people are uptight. It's more dead over there than a doornail. I don't remember the last time I logged on M247. I like M6C just as much, because it's relaxed to speak easy. I think this site has what it takes to be even better. Donations to expand it's capability, hell yes!! Where do I donate!?

do you really need more $$ to add in subsections to forums? I bet it's not gonna cost you much.

I don't mind the user title of 'moderator'. i was talking about the graphic below that that says your are a premium lifetime member (or w/e it says).

and maybe my first post was a little harsh, but i don't want 6club to turn into MSF.

I don't think there would be any problem with donations being recognized either. Which I would, god knows how much very useful information I have gained from here before I even joined. Giving back in any possible manner is good karma.

P.S. What is MSF? Not that I really care, I may be new but I like it here and I'm staying.

You mean the 70 billion completely inactive sponsors that haven't logged on here once, but still pay the ridiculous sponsorship fees that this site charges aren't bringing in enough revenue?

Other sites that are nowhere near as big, that have nowhere near as many sponsors, and that don't rob the few sponsors they have manage to give out these benefits for free to long-standing members.
