A family member has had issues with the DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) light suddenly coming on. When this happens, the car jerks and loses power briefly. Switching the engine off/on usually fixes it, but it still comes back every once and a while. The car diagnostics throws an error when this happens and the code that pops up is:

P0341 - Camshaft Position Sensor “A” Circuit Range/Performance.

We bought a new Camshaft Position sensor which was fairly cheap to see if that will fix the issue however, we've not been able to locate the existing one to swap it out. Does anyone know where abouts this sensor is located? I've tried to find the correct service/workshop manuals but no luck unfortunately. Appreciate any help. Thank you!

Aside from you and me, these are the guys who also have the diesel variant:

@Benedict
@javier.g
@Raymond

You might want to see this link, and hopefully find what you need.

Thanks @Archerfish :)

I'm having a look through the manuals in that link to see if I can find what I'm looking for. Many thanks again (y)

The DSC doesnt cause this, its in the center console with the ABS module i think. So, i would think its the oil control valve or timing chain. Check and clean the MAP (not the MAF) in the intake manifold, and the pipe behind the head and above the turbo. Theres a thread on here with a vid, @Archerfish can you find that thread?

Oh, so the P0341 is something else then? Whatever it is, it needs looked at too. May as well replace it and see what happens.

The car had the timing chain replaced already around 60k miles. It now has 100k on the clock.

I'm not sure if this is the one as I haven't watched it.

Thanks, but is this not an entirely different fault? Does the video explain where the Camshaft Position Sensor is located on a 2009 MZR-CD engine? This is for a GJ engine. I'm quite familiar with the P0401 error on a GJ. I've had that myself :)

I think maybe there is some confusion here. This is for a 2009 Mazda 6 (GH) 2.2 MZR-CD Diesel. Not my own car in the signature. Thanks (y)

Well, i dont read minds, this is the first youve mentioned the year.
There's really no need for the attitude. It clearly says the error code and the car/engine type in the title which is also posted in the Mazda 6 2nd Generation sub forum. I guess you've looked at my signature and assumed it was my own GJ model, but it isnt.

Well, NOW you get an attitude... 99% of the people here are in the US and we dont have diesel Mazdas here, so you need to be specific when asking questions. I wasnt giving you an attitude, but now i am. We are all here of our own accord, so getting snippy cause someone doesnt have your answer, or gives you on that doesnt match your poorly worded request is on you, pal.

The error code that comes up, is USUALLY NOT RELATED to the real problem, which is why i showed you that video, to give you some clue as to where to start. So, either you can take what you get, or be more specific, or better yet, tell the first party to come here and not use you as a go between. (shrug)

How so? You could have maybe just mentioned that the year wasn't in the title is all, instead of saying you're not a mind reader. That is just unneccesary sarcasm.

Where does this figure come from and how is it even relevant to my problem? Even if it is 99%, there's still 1% that might be able to help me.

The title reads "P0341 - Camshaft Position Sensor Location? Mazda 6 (GH) 2009 2.2 MZR-CD Diesel (185 hp)", if you can tell me how I can be more specific than that, I'm all ears.

I don't see how you've come to this conclusion. All I said was that the P0401 error and oil pressure problem was confused with another model, then it followed with your needless mind reading reply. I read back what I said and I don't see what I've done wrong?

Let's just leave it there and see if someone else who has knowledge of this diesel engine can chime in. I'm sorry you took offense to whatever I said wrong. I was merely just pointing out that you may have been looking at a different model which in fact was correct. I appreciate you looking but I really don't know what else I can say other than it's a different model. Thank you and good luck.
