2010 2.5L - Has anyone else found it difficult to read the old level on the dip stick. It's not flat, and the oil seems to be all over it but pooled at the bottom. Why could they not just use a regular old dip stick?

Advice on how to read?

I've never noticed a problem reading it. I do like 5 quarts doing an oil change will bring the reading just at the full line.

I agree...it stinks. I don't know what it is about Japanese cars, but our Honda CR-V's dipstick is also difficult to read. My technique is to wipe it as clean as possible, plunge it all the way back in, then look on both the front and back...and wherever the oil starts is the oil level. That pool of oil a the bottom of that recess is a little weird though...makes me 2nd and 3rd guess myself every time.

I'm glad someone brought this up, yeah it sucks, I changed my sister's boyfriends ford truck's oil and it was a straight dipstick and the easiest to read I have ever seen. I just kinda use about 8/9 of a 5 QT

I have the same problem with my 06 V6. Maybe that's why Fords tend to break down since no one can check their fluids :p;) *awaiting for Ford drivers to attack*

Usually if i try one reading and it comes back inconclusive i rotate the dipstick around and usually i can get a better reading.

But definitely 5.5 quarts.

I wonder if my wife's dipstick will fit...2004 Honda Accord v6. The readings are much better than my 2004 6s
Material property Metal
