So a while back I installed a second pcv valve in preparation for the oil catch can. I didnt have time to find a good spot for the can so I just left all the tubes and both pcv valves in palce just like they would if there was a catch can. So today I got to put the catch can in and I cut the tube in half because thats where the can goes, and then I see all this sludge. Its just a little bit more runny than toothpaste, but its still pretty thick. Im just wondering what the hell this is and is it normal? Again the only thing I had different was that there was no catch can, but everything else was set up exactly how it was in all the guides I have read.

Man I can't wait to get that OCC installed and get shit like that out of the engine...

Dot did you find any of that gunk past the second PCV valve or did it hold it between the two valves? Wouldn't that clog up after awhile just like if you let the OCC fill and not empty it? Just wondering if that would hurt the engine at all. (Still Learning)

yea if you put another check valve at the intake manifold, all that crap will just sit in the extended hose..

Well I didn't get a chance to pull the entire tube so I don't know if it got past the second pcv, but the extended hose went to the bottom of the bumper and back up. My guess is it just collected in the bottom part of the hose. The catch can is in now, its in place of one of the horns. I hope it catches something. My can is not baffled so I filed it with stainless steel wool.

Best tip of the day!!

There is a bit of brake cleaner in there too just because i use it to clean off the bottom of the catch can every time i drain it.
So, you just spray a little brake cleaner in the hole to clean out any gunk out that might be left over, right?
Smart idea Bova.....+1 on this cleaning tip. I will do this tomorrow and every other time now. Thanks

This explains why I get that oil smell thru my vents for a little while every time I empty my occ.
