Since I wanted a very inexpensive scanner to read off the trouble codes for any "CEL" in the event that they occur, would this scanner be a sufficient enough? I was reading on the boards that I might need a Canadian compatible scanner to correctly read the codes. Is that true?

 I don't mean to laugh, but CAN isn't Canadian.

CAN is the abbreviation for Controller-Area Network, and yes you must have a scanner that is CAN capable to read the codes. Falcontx has a GB going on for the Scangauge II right now, and you will be looking at $150ish but it also does a lot of other neat things too. Actually, here is the post http://forum.mazda6club.com/index.php?show...=61481&st=0

Autoenginuity is also worth mentioning, but it may do more than you need to warrant the extra cost.

cool, thanks for clearing that up for me. Silly me I just assumed it meant Canadian even though we have NA Mazda's :sarc:

Well, the cheapest I've seen so far (CAN compatible) was about 60ish on ebay. That might be my best bet...Thanks for the info though!
