Hi guys,

I have a mazda 6 07 model auto.
My car doesnt warm up with high revs anymore and idles pretty low generally like the ignition is low or something.
With the a/c switched on the idle doesnt move up but the advantage is that if it's not on, the car turns off sometimes in motion.

What can I check to discover why the high rev warm ups have stopped?

Thanks.

usually has to do with coolant temp, are you getting readings there?

do you have any codes pending, have you scanned the car at all? if nothing is pending, try a reset of the ecu and see if that helps at all. if the car has issues holding idle after you've reset an the car has had a few days to relearn fuel trims, start looking for a vacuum leak.

I've got a 0506 code, cause is pinned to either restricted air intake, damaged or dirty throttle body, loose TPS, or faulty ISC valve.

Throttle body cleaned, very little difference. Checked for vacuum leaks and found nothing.
Not sure how to check for restricted air intake...maybe clogged cat or smthn connected to the air filter housing?
Can a TPS be loose on these cars?

Im experiencing just the opposite. When starting the car in the morning (55-60 outside temp), the car races up to about 2g and then slowly settles down. Just replaced the spark plugs, what else should i check around for?

thats perfectly normal. all cars do that. its a cold start. the RPM's are higher to help bring the engine up to temp. once its warmed up a little, the idle will drop down.
Really? I had my Mazda 6 (3.0) for about a year and never really noticed it.

I recently changed the plugs, boots and the air intake hose because it had a slight rip in it, did a few routine cleanings like throttle body, etc. Now I've noticed it perks up to about 2K when starting and then will slowly drop to normal.

And, if it goes to normal, then I shift to Drive, it'll perk back up to 2K and then slowly trickle down.

Car in my sigs at 775xx and at 50F outside after sitting all night its at 1700 RPM for about 2 min or less then comes down to 1000 as it warms. Then 750 or so when up to temp. Pretty typical of a FI car with IAC. As said, the sooner its out of open loop and the ECM takes over the fuel trims, they idle down. Its mostly about emissions followed by drive ability when cold.

Mine doesn't really take 2 minutes - it doesn't really slowly drop, I might have used the wrong wording.

It goes directly to ~2K no matter when I start (outside temp ranges from 30F to 65F and car both warmed up or cold) and drops down to normal within a few seconds.

Just seems odd that I would never notice that before and that it drops so quickly.

EDIT: I unhooked the battery for 10 minutes. Idle at startup is back to normal.
