Hey guys I just joined today. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post or if this is against a rule. but I purchased a ms6 today and will be picking it up from the dealership on Thursday. Here's a link to the car: 2006 Mazda MAZDASPEED6 $13,900 - Humble Hyundai - Humble, TX 77338 Dealer
As soon as I pick it up I will put pics up of it. and btw that price listed on there isn't what I bought it for. I ended up talking them down on this car to 11,500$. I was just wondering if you guys had any comments or concerns about maybe the mileage or price(too high, too low, etc.) I am very excited to officially own this car. I fell in love with it at the test drive. Just wanted to be initiated into this club/ forum:p and what you guy's opinion and any helpful advice for a new owner like myself. all comments and advice is much appreciated since i do not know too much about this car besides the basics.
well thanks guys,
Devin

Welcome to the forum.

A few things I noticed:
- Wheels look like RX-8 wheels, not stock (that could be a plus :)) <---- Edit: lol sorry I was wrong, so disregard this one.
- Lower radiator grill is not stock
- Seats look like cloth seats. I thought GTs had leather/sunroof... are you sure that's not a Sport? I could be wrong on this one.
- There are probably more modifications... post more pictures if you'd like people here to help you identify them.

Here's a good place to get started: http://forum.mazda6club.com/mazdasp...mps-noob-thread-summary-guide-new-owners.html

Good luck!

Congrats on the MS6 and welcome. I concur about the seats. definitely not a grand touring. You would also see heated seat switches beneath the arm rest cover. Looks in good shape from the outside. The lower is a bar grill. Probably from ebay. I, personally, like the plain black. Nice window tint. Post pics of the engine bay. Nice color. Have fun modding.

those arent RX8 wheels. those are standard mazda6 wheels. as in 17's. so its actually downgraded when it comes to wheels. and yes, Grand touring's came with leather. so its doubtful its a GT.
You're right... my bad. Yeah the ad says GT and the wheels are downgraded. Interesting...

Thanks man! yeah i did notice the radiator grill. and yeah i was doing some research on gt vs sport? and I'm pretty sure your right on that one. I do believe it should be reversed. I looked under the hood and couldn't find any mods done.. and quick question I plan on modding this for sure. just dont know what order to go in? i know theres not a specific order just what would be best maybe? and is that not too bad of a deal the price i bought it for?
thanks again :) and yeah i agree with it not being a grand touring Monoxide

Those wheels like like Mazda 6 wheels not RX8's, which are probably 17's rather than 18's. Depending on tire size, your speedometer might read a bit higher. But 17's would be better for winter driving but your in Texas so that doesn't matter!

Looks like the prev. owner did mods like MWSpeed6 said, that front grill looks nice IMO.

11.5K is a great price IMO, miles are a bit high for THIS CAR, but just hope the prev. owner knew how to drive it correctly, that's all you can do.

Be sure to check out the noob mod and you should be good.

Welcome to 6club, check out mazdaspeedforums.org also lots of good info there too.

yeah i sure hope the took good care of it! My father owns an automotive repair center and we did a full checkup. (Scanned for codes, put it on the lift, took off the tires, etc.) and it seemed to be fine. and when you say miles are a bit high.. how much longer could i expect out of this vehicle if it was taken care of and i take care of it as well? and i've seen on the noob thread that you use 91/93 octane. so would i need to run premium always?

sorry for all the ?'s
and thanks again :)

Have him, if he has the means, to do a cylinder pressure check, if your worried about the engine vulnerability.

You can expect it to run for as long as you treat it right!

Yes use the highest grade gas always, if you don't, it might damage the engine and/or detune and you will lose a huge amount of power, in order for it to save itself from further damage. You want a premium car you need premium gas lol.

Let the Q's roll don't worry about that! GL

yeah ill try that if possible. and so you've ran premium gas ever since you've had the car? and what in your personal opinion would be a good first couple of mods. cuz im thinking bov, boost gauge, catback, cai, maybe a tuner?
thanks a bunch man! :)

basically rule of thumb if your doing long driving in lower gears per say stay below boost range. 1-4th gear is below 3000, 5th 3250, and 6th 3500 rpms. saves life of engine and certainly saves on gas. as far as i understand thats how it works. i will be corrected quickly if i am wrong and sometimes i am. lol

Yes. you never want to run anything but premium gas. if you have to you can use regular in an emergency but don't run a full tank use enough to get you to a station that has premium. car does not run good and can cause issue.

for basic mods check that forum link that was post further back on here its a great thread. I would suggest boost gauge, COBB SRI, COBB TIP, and COBB AP. good starter mods. i don't suggest CAI or a BOV.

man only premium gas? isnt that quite a bit more for a full tank? and what octance is that if you know?
yeah i plan on modding it. and do any of you guys know a ballpark for city mpg?(I know the ratings just want to see what everyone else is getting)
thanks again!

yes premium can be more money and it has gone up a lot recently. i spend about $45 a tank and thats running it damn near bone dry. i average 18-20 city driving. and that's not racing it around that's going easy on the old girl. i would say for premium gas any octane above 91 will do the trick. i used 93.

Welcome. I'd say you did well on the car. Mileage is fair.
You want to know what to expect out of reliability, take alot of time to go over the newb thread. Mister cfdp out did himself there.
Perhaps I missed it, but were you able to score a warranty with your purchase?
Keep some finaces at hand for repair work if you don't have a warranty to work with.
