So I was looking into a second modification for my car(2006 MS6) and I wanted to beef up the sound of the exhaust system, and maybe have a few mild WHP gains.

I know Corksport was a reliable aftermarket exhaust provider so I wanted to get everyones input on the full turbo back exhaust vs some of the other options they distribute I.E. Racepipe/Catback/Downpipe

06-07 Mazdaspeed 6 :: Intake / Exhaust - CorkSport Mazda Performance - 360-260-CORK

I am looking for a mild sound increase but my main concern is road noise. I would like to be able to take a 4-5 hour trip to the beach and not be annoyed or deaf by the time I got there.

Much Thanks for any input

Happy Zooming :)

P.S. I accidentally posted this in the "general" forum...and I'm trying to delete it.. if a mod could delete it, that would be great, thanks.

CS CB anf the cpe DP is a great combo ,but down side is :they sound great and noisy :D

if you're concern about the noise i would recommend getting the magnaflow since they it's less noisy and still get you couple extra HP.... :)

I get it. I want to make that 4-5 hour trip the beach too .. not 20 miles as the crow flies .. what fun is that .. I mean, really?

Anyway I am looking at a new cat-back exhaust too. The Magnaflow looks easy. The GHL option is more interesting with the resonator, but it's 3" so maybe too much noise if/when I slap on a catted down pipe. Based on my sample of youtube videos and comments, the ETS CBE is even more interesting. No resonator though. So finally, I started looking at Remus. Very cool. Twice as expensive as Magnaflow though.

Don't want droan.

Online searches show (rounded to nearest $25):
Magnaflow: $575
GHL: $850
ETS: $900
Remus: $1225

If anyone has tips on doing a Remus CBE, then that would cool. Is there a particularly reputable source? Or maybe I go ETS and slap in a resonator?

It's possible that I will do 25k miles per year .. so a muted solution is required.

Custom? I haven't pursued this much, but maybe that's the way to go!

I don't even know of anybody running Remus. I've seen maybe two guys post here in the past 4 years who were running that system.
I love my CS system, but honestly, it's droney as shit. It was droney before the CS DP and just as droney after.
I've heard the Magnoflow in person, mated to a catless DP and a PG mani. It's much less droney and quiet than my CS, but it's raspy as hell. However, the PG mani increased the raspiness quite a bit. I find it hard to believe that any of those +3" systems are going to be made quiet. They will drone to an extent on the highway.

great thread thanks ! i'll prolly just end up doing a full exhaust. i don't mind the sound as long as it sounds good but i don't want nothing excessively loud and it seems the magnaflow is the quietest one. but this wont be anytime soon so i am not really worried lol

The OE mufflers are incredible at...muffling. Lol!
I have also heard in person a catted CPE DP mated to the OE catback. Shit was quiet until you got on it. Then was so sweet sounding. Like a nice grumble, but def not too loud.

This is exactly what I want to do now .. but I have 40k miles left on an extended warranty.** I think if the DP swapped out easily (a couple hours vs. half-day or more), then this would be a no-brainer. I have not read or heard that this is the case. Maybe it's easier after the first time?

** Yeah, I know. Yes, it was pricey, but I break things.

Well sounds like im'a go with the dual CBE from magnaflow, good price, mild WHP gain, and little to no road noise.

Any more input would be great if it seems like i'm going down the wrong path?? ha

Thanks guys,

Nate

Thanks man, makin me feel better about my purchase haha.

Did you install yourself or did you have a shop do it?

I heard magnaflow was pretty easy to do yourself.

Catback exhausts are very easy to install on these cars, just make sure you have some 8 or 10mm bolts and nuts handy if any of the original bolts break like im sure they will.

I have a 3 dp and magnaflow cbe and its super loud when you floor it but barely even noticeable at normal driving speeds. I think its a perfect setup, the only thing I may do is get a high flow cat then Im done with exhaust. You will like the magnaflow!

That's what I like about your set up. It's very tolerable while cruising. I drive my car maybe once a week now. Everytime I drive it I forget how loud it is. I even found it somewhat obnoxious last week. WHATS HAPPENING TO ME!!?!

But you never even hit the gas so we could hear it. Could you make one where you push it, boost it, up near redline so we can hear it wide open?

I have a CS down pipe and the stock CBE, withouts the Cat's of course.

I had the CS CBE & I couldn't bear it, it is LOUD as shit & the drone would drive me nuts, couldn't bear it on the highway after 2 mins.

With the stock exhaust and the CS downpipe, I think its good, but I would like to make a custom 2 1/4" or 2 1/2" SS pipe to the stock muffler, as mentioned in the Tony the Tiger thread.

I went & actually met him, he said he will do it, I have to come up with the cash & I am broke at the moment, so havent done it yet, maybe after the bonus:)

Dont go 3" you will be deaf & it simply dosent suite a 4 cylinder engine, leave the 3" for the 6 or 8 cylinders!!
