Hello!

I haven't been on much the past couple months but I wanted to provide a review on AWR's new transmission mount they have available for pre-order!

I believe I mentioned in a couple threads awhile back that I was talking to Tony and Ali abojt a passenger-side engine mount and a trans mount to go with their RMM. The trans mount was delivered mid-October and I've got about 1000 miles on it now.

This is the prototype, and installation required me to enlarge the side mount holes before I could pass a bolt through each side. I got it installed after getting my basemap tune from DrTuned and had time between the basemap flash and the trans mount so I could identify any changes.

First impressions:

My god the cabin noise and vibration was insane but not in a terrible or annoying way. I can hear everything the transmission is doing, and in 2nd and 3rd, low RPMs, it vibrates like you couldn't believe. There was zero slop/slip when shifting from a stop, all the way to 6th. Putting the pedal down has an immediate response whether it's only a tad or to the floor.

It's been about 800 miles now, and it has been well worth it. The vibrations have subsided a lot and it's not something I notice anymore. The one odd thing that surprised me was that having the AC on did not increase NVH at all like it can with a firm RMM. The only real negative impact that it has played into was my already-leaking transmission. It has accelerated the leak a bit, which may also have caused some of the additional cabin noise and vibration. I am having the transmission replaced as soon as I find a used one for a decent price/low-ish miles and will get to compare the mount with 2 transmissions which should clear up any speculation I have.

The passenger-side mount prototype is being shipped to have me test fit it and function so I'll have an update on that in the coming weeks as well!

Weight savings?
Yes but I did not weigh it and hadn't thought of it until seeing your comment. It didn't feel like more than 1-2lbs when holding both.

As soon as I find a good deal on a used transmission, I'll be able to find out how much of the NVH increase was related to my failing trans. With already having their RMM, it has been a fantastic addition and getting the passenger-side engine mount is hopefully going to tie it all together nicely.

I just filled the stock TM with 3m window sealant gooped flush to the metal edge of the bushing. Zero change in NVH, and significant improvement in mtx shifting and reduction in axle hip when my tires spin. Can't recommend it enough.
