Last night traded in my 03 P5 for an '06 6 GT wagon (read: 90lbs dog, mountain bikes and trips to cottage need space, even with no kids!). So far so good!

Question: With the 18's (215/45R18) on it what options/what are people running for snow tires/wheels?
So far I haven't found any steel rims bigger than 16" and I don't really want to go alloy (3x the price). Seems I always have trouble finding appropriate winter wheels for mazda's. Think I can get away with a 215/16R55?

Get the 16" steelies. The base model uses 16" steelies right, so they should fit ok.

The most base 6i has 16" steel wheels. My guess is that they would still fit on any 6 model besides the speed6. I could be wrong though.

16" steelies with 205/60-16 tires is the stock 6i size, and my winter snow tire/wheel combo, so yes, 16" will work.

Won't the 205's be stretched?

Anyone have any feedback on the Toyo Garit KX as a winter tire (we're talking Ottawa, Onatrio here). I can get them in 215/55R16.

215/55 should actually work. Because you're going up in the width but down in the aspect ratio, abiding by the +1 rule. IIRC, someone's selling a set of 205/60 snow tires in Buy/Sell right now...
