Ok, to help make a long story short, I purchased a mazda 6 about 2 years and 1 month ago. I put on 54k miles in that amount of time. The car had almost 57k miles when i got it. it now has 111k miles. Ive never had any transmission problems but the hard jerk between 1st and 2nd which was fixed by a pcm/tcm reflash updated specs. I do not know the prior history of maintenance on the car, wether the previous owner had did a trans. fluid change. I would like to do a transmission flud/filter change. So i contacted 2 local mazda dealers, both mentioning they only do the flush not just the fluid/filter change. however, i spoke to the lady and mentioned to her about my situation, and she said that she herself would recommend not even changing the fluid/filter at all since i dont have any real issues and that if i were to decide to do that, it would be like opening up a can of worms as she put it. So my question is, what should i do. I have what i consider a "really spirited" driving personality. I did check the fluid a few times in the past, recalling it being a light reddish/pink color. now just a few days ago i checked it and it was a medium/dark color with no reddish/pinkish color to it.. What are some suggestions. ive read too many horror stories about the flush so i really dont want to do that,. if changing it should i add a conditioner or ??? please help,
some additional info:
2005 Mazda 6i;111k miles;Sprirted Driver;Doesnt warm up car before taking off,only in the winter;
thanks.

ps. (if your thinking im crazy for listening to the lady, lets put it this way. the other dealership was a guy i spoke to and he told me himself the car dont even have a trans fluid filter and didnt know squat as opposed to the lady which really explained all this stuff about pros and cons for each decision)

Here's what I would do. You'll probably get some other opinions, and in that case weigh them all.

1st, I'd do a drain and fill with my next two oil changes. This isn't the same as a flush, as it wont get all of the fluid out. There are plenty of threads on doing a drain and fill. If you do it at the time of your next oil two oil changes, you'll have changed the majority of the fluid and won't risk kicking trash loose by using a pressured fluid change machine. I went ahead and swapped to synthetic for mine, as far as that goes.

I'd install a magnafine filter and run it during the two drain and fills and then swap it out for a fresh one when you complete the second drain and flush.

After that I'd continue doing drain and fills annually or as mileage dictates.

Good luck.
