It really funny about that saying....I think Paul Hogan did it in Croc Dundee and some Tourism Ads for American Television....

Most Australians actually call them Prawns !! :thumbup

But they are one of my favourite foods, Pity about the damn Allergy though....:sarc

Heres some Australian Terms You can use in your everyday speech.

Dunny - (toilet)
Sheila - (Girl)
Bloke - (guy)
Digger - (Old guy)
Crikey - (oh my God!)

Here in the US, prawns and shrimp are often used interchangably, but prawns actually refer to a specific class of large shrimp.

Yeah thats pretty much the same deal here...

We call our small prawns "School Prawns" normally not bigger than 1 inch

Our medium ones are called "King Prawns" normally about 2 inches big

Our large ones are called "Tiger Prawns" - over 2 inches bigs, and similar colouring to a Tiger, thus the name... A couple of these ones with some nice Garden salad & a beer of course and I am in Heaven !!

I just read recently in one of our Australian Newspapers, that he is reportedly in a Hospital getting treatment for a "back problem"......

I doubt we will see him in anymore movies, he will need a walking frame !!!!
