i have an automatic mazda6 v6 2003 and every time i feel it go to i believe 3rd gear, it feels like it shifts to neutral and then it catches gear causing it to jerk real hard. is that my transmission or possibly my torque converter? i have been noticing my gas dropping alot faster than usual but no check engine light is on.

You have what is known in automotive circles as a "problem." What you do is take (or tow) your Mazda to a certified "mechanic," give him or her $1,200, and the "problem" is solved.

Seriously, did you check the fluid level? My last car, an Impala, did that and it was a quart-and-a-half low. I put in the fluid and drove the car another 20,000 miles when I traded it in for the Mazda (and I bought the Advanced Auto Parts store brand too).

yea i'd check the fluid level as well. and if it hasnt ever been flushed, that could possibly give an issue as well

I had this problem, and i replaced my AA throttle body with a BB, and problem gone

could be the TB yes. but it usually hangs in 1st gear to 2nd gear switch, not to 3rd. but definately a viable culprit as well

yeah, mine hung from 2nd to 3rd gear. Was hella annoying - especially w/ the shift shock

awesomee thanks for the help. it was the fluid problem >_< these things love consuming oil
