I've been trying to find the spring rates for our cars can't find them anywhere. The closest thing I've found is this site. http://www.grohol.com/mazda/ms6.htm which provides the information below. The 24 and 23 are the sway bar diameters but I cannot tell what the 49 and 36 are. They are some sort of spring rate but are in newton meters per millimeter. Anyone know the conversion from that to PSI?

Damping force kN(Kgf)
Spring rate
Stabilizer dia.

Extended
Compressed
N/mm (kgf/mm)
mm

Front
2.9 (0.3m/s)
1.4 (0.3m/s)
49

Rear
2.5 (0.3m/s)
1.2 (0.3m/s)
36

i think you want lbs/in, not psi. multiply your number by 5.682 to get from N/mm to lbs/in.

Thanks for the conversion factor.

So our spring rates are: Front = 278, Rear = 205. Does this sound right? When I was searching for the rates, I saw the stock 6 rates were 280 Front, 185 rear. If the MS6 are 25% and 37% stiffer respectively, then the rates should be closer to 350F, 253R.

those oem M6 rates look too high.

tanabe lists 3.9/2.6 kg rates as 0-5% over stock (assume 2.3L sedan)

assuming 0% over stock, stock rates are 218/146 lb/in

MS6 is 27%/40% stiffer. close to 25%/37% per mazda.

If stock 6 springs are indeed 218/146, then I guess these numbers are right yielding ~270/200 for the MS6.

Thanks,

When i asked this question originally someone told me Corksport published the MS6 rates as 280/185. That's prolly where you got that number. We need to confirm this rate. Someone please confirm the MS6 rate!
