I can agree with this. I'm not a big fan of the bolt-over grille, but I do like the look of the mesh.

While I like your idea, and applaud you for going forward with it, I agree with removing the stock bars instead of putting a mesh grille on top of it.

The more I read this thread, the more I want to do something with mine. How do you remove that chrome "smile" on the stock grille?

This thought just came to me. what if we could "wrap" the cross bars with a mess look instead of removing the cross bars themselves. Not sure how playable the mesh would be and it would certainly starch the surface unless there was some sort of black felt. hmmmm photo shop anyone?

That's doable, but it would be a PITA. Still, if you have the time...
