Phoned in 3.5 hours ago.... and a 'standard' tow-truck shows up. MAZDA told them this was a front wheel drive car so it could be towed on two wheels. I told them NO WAY and now it's back to waiting.

BE SURE TO ENFORCE A FLATBED (who knew?) WHEN TALKING TO MAZDA R/A!!!!

Mazda operator told me nothing on their screen told them that this was an AWD car!!!!

That sucks. What happen to your car to have you stuck on the side of the road?

Severe shuddering...felt like the engine was shaking loose from the mounts. Engine light came on and started blinking. I could drive it just not accelerate but Mazda dealer said to stop driving it.

Although it's no substiute for a flat-bed, most wheel lift operators should have a set of dolly wheels to support the rear.

Granted, if I were in your shoes I would still wait for the flatbed, but in a pinch he should have been able to accomodate your AWD car.

If you have triple AAA plus, tell them your car is too low to be used by a flatbed...they'll send the bad ass ferrari/lambo tow truck.

Actually, this is *exactly* what they did. The Lambo specialist showed up. Surprising thing was he knew all about the screw-in hold-downs that are REQUIRED to be used when towing. He was also very aware of the front chin and had placed an extra set of ramps to clear the chin when getting it up on the flatbed.

So, in total: 5 HOURS to get it to the dealer. And then..they give me an ISUZU PICKUP as the rental car (courtesy of Enterprise rent-a-car). It was that or a mini-van, or walk home.

I'm a whopping 9 miles from the dealer, 15 minutes to drive up there but NO....don't do that. Wait 5 hrs to get service. UFB.

The funny thing is if you registered your car through mazdausa.com, you'll see this:

Transmission:
6-SPEED MANUAL TRANS 2W FWD
Engine:
2.3L DOHC I-4

I guess Mazda even knows that it's a FWD car impersonating AWD. This is actually troubling. I mean, you would think Mazda would be able to get this straight.
