Sorry for my bad English.
I am going to buy a Mazda MPV in Italy. I know (looking the mazda website
in Europe and in America) that Europe MPV is not equal to the american MPV.
I have a question : I would like to get also the Nav (euro 1600) ; I got
the information that the Nav has only one CD Unit . This means that
I can't use the navigation system and at same time hear a musical cd.
2 questions :
1)do you think that with an additional cd-charger can I have this feature
(in other words has the Nav system the possibility to work a musical cd on
the cd-charger and in the same time to continue in the monitoring
the route giving the required informations)?
2)do you know what product is this Nav on
european MPV(panasonic? Bove? others?and what code)
Thank you very much

The CD (more like DVD I think) player is separate for the NAV unit and for your sound system. So that shouldn't make such problem. Other people with their cars already in their garage can tell more exactly about this, I still have my 12 days to wait.

But I believe that the NAV system player is in the boot...

Correct me people if I am wrong. :)

No I wouldn't think the nav system and the stereo would use the same CD/DVD-player. Would just be stupid. The Mazda6 I been told have the DVD in the glove compartment, so I recon the MPV would have a quite similar solution. Either that or somewhere in the trunk.

No, Blackberd.
For the moment it is Nav System on the MPV (Europe) has integrate more functions:
Navigations,Radio, Cassette and CD. For the moment, with only one cd unit it is
impossible to get the navigation functions and the music functions (CD) in the same time;
it is possible to get navigation functions and the functions Radio or Cassette.
This is the reason for my questions:
1)can the Nav System (I rimember that the Nav System for MPV is as an integrated system
for navigation functions + Radio and music) manage also a CD-charger?
2)if yes, can it manage in the same time navigations + cd (from the cd-charger);
in other words, while I am listening a music from cd-charger, are the navigation
functions active to tell me the right road ?
3)what model is this Nav System? Panasonic,Bose, etc.etc?
Thank you, and sorry for my bad English

So it's different from M6... That sounds really strange solution overall?

If you think manufacturer does not differ the items in different model, you thinking wrong. Just look at one of the other posting where the 6 will not get the rear headrest while their Millenia has them. Why they can not just use that seatback, I do not know? I am sure they would save some money too from not redesigning the seats. They only have to redesign for the hatch and wagon since they have the Hakari seats.

They do whatever cut cost so they in the end get more in their pockets. That is the final result of any business.

Sure they are different, but many times use the same components also...

But this kind of combined NAV & CD solution sounds just ridicilous. You need NAV while you drive, right? But people mostly listen CD's while they drive... And that is why I thought that it should be separately just like in most of the other cars in the shops. Not just Mazda - but like almous all the other cars and models...

NAV can easily share DVD/CD with your stereo. Why? Because you just use it to LOAD map info into the NAV computer. After that, you don't need it anymore (usually, I must add).

I think that the nav system needs informtions often and not
only at the start of the job. I think that nav reads these informations from
cd/dvd unit and for this reason it is not possible to listen music
from cd/dvd unit while nav ssystem is working.

I have to agree with you on that... I don't believe that NAV system has a 500MB memory where it would load the whole map & software needed for the navigation?
Usually they do read the DVD / CD frequently while traveling... But it is not impossible to make a system with a few gigs HD or something, and that way all you need is the DVD to update new versions of the map. But I haven't heard suchs specs yet - please correct me if I am wrong, I would very much like to be wrong on this... Show some NAV system specs with lots of memory (enough for the whole DVD).

Usually these systems buffer the data needed in the region where you are (you know, it is a GPS based system... No need to load data for Idaho if you're in Minnesota, right?)

When it's loaded it will only request the disc when you border the "end" of the loaded map. Don't know this for a fact about the Mazda6 one, but this is usually how these thingies work.

Do you think that the internal memory of the nav-computer is enough to
load the content of a CD/DVD?
