The good news: The long awaited Sky-Activ D engine will finally make it's US debut in the Mazda CX-5.

The bad news: The performance numbers have been softened and it now requires DEF. The SkyActiv-T (310lbft) will have more torque than the SkyActiv-D (290lbft)

Pretty sure you can blame California, more specifically the fascist folks at CARB, for this letdown.

Yup, can't say I'm impressed...

1. Lower torque than the 2.5T
2. EPA gas mileage is horrible
3. Needs urea

If I was shopping the CX-5, the 2.5T would be it for me.

Yay! People's Republic of California FTW!
