Hi everyone! Im a newbie here, driving a MAZDA 6 2017 GS. I have been planning to replace my 17x7.5 stock rims. Got a good deal of MAZDA 3 GT OEM 18" stock wheels but didn't realize its an 18x7. I wonder if it is safe to use and wouldn't it look awful if RIMS is smaller? thank you to all that will respond
depends on what your application is, and if you like the rims.
if you don't want to get bad speedo/odo readings, you'll need to match tire size to keep overall outer diameter similar to oem fitment. the 3 runs 215mm on the 18" wheels (running a 225 will pinch the tires), and will thus provide a little less grip. however, i actually run small OD setup with pinched tires deliberately for racing, where the speedo doesn't matter to me and i need more grip.
i'd personally just get a set of decent junkyard wheels if you can find some, and then run stock 225/45 fitment. but at the end of the day it's up to you if it looks better from the side, or if you think you should sell the wheels to help fund a different set.
