Hi,

My Mazda 6 2.3i has started to burn oil (i am assuming its burning it as there is no leak). I am using approx. 2 litres every month (1000 miles).

I have also noticed that when the engine is idling it feels like its going to stall and the car shakes.

I had a look at the spark plugs the other day and found that they have a lot of black soot on them (See attached images).

Anyone got any ideas what might be causing this?

Could it be the PCV valve?

Thanks

If I'm not mistaken, black soot usually means you were running rich (too much fuel) or the plugs are REALLY old (can't remember for sure though). How many miles/km on the spark plugs?

Is the soot wet or dry? Here's a plug guide: http://www.freeautomechanic.com/plug burn chart full.html
