The 3 and 6 are pretty different classes. For me, any daily driver I buy MUST have a stick. You can still get a loaded 3 with a stick (thanks Mazda!) or the poverty trim in a 6 with the smaller engine. I haven't driven a 2.5L current-gen 6 but I can't imagine it's more fun to drive than the 2.5L 3, which is an absolute blast. The 3 hatch has a ton more trunk space than a 6, too. As it stands right now, the 3 is the clear choice over the the 6 for the enthusiast. If the 6 turbo gets a stick (which I doubt), then it would be a game changer.
