Thanks for creating this awesome forum and meeting wonderful people here. I am looking to get a 2014 Mazda 6 or anything similar but I'm really interested in this one, unfortunately this car has salvage title and I am looking to the community to check if there is anything else I should be looking out for while doing my inspection day, and I will purchase the car report to see damage and other details.

They are asking for the price of $12,950 and it has 36225 miles with a Salvage Title.

If you guys have any suggestions on what to look at.
thanks

I bought a GT for my daughter about a year ago for less than that. Price varies between regions but to me, that one non being a GT and with a salvage title, its not worth that much. When I was searching I came across two GT's with salvage titles and both were around $9k.

Thank you! Fixed.

I'm with Jman. Without the salvage title you're looking at about $12 - 16k, with, no way it's over 10k.

I re-read this and realized I used the wrong term.
The ones I came across had accidents reported, not salvage titles. I'd stay away from that one.

Salvage title doesn't have to be a bad buy, it just depends on what kind of damage and which jurisdiction issued the title. A few years ago I saw a brand new Porsche Boxster with a Florida title of destruction. The damage happened at the dealer lot. It was a rear windscreen that separated from the canvas top. It wasn't broken or cracked and the car didn't get wet. The insurance company just wrote it off and replaced the entire car so it had to be sold for scrap. There are reputable places that can properly repair damaged vehicles, but the problem with "properly" is the expense connected with it...which is what we probably see here. Correcting the damage forced the price above value.

That is the point. Car can be perfect but you'll go through a lot of explaining and loss of value whenever you go to sell it.
Might be worth the risk on hard to get/bargain vehicles but IMO, there are plenty of 6's out there to choose from.

Good info there.
Personally, I'd avoid it as a daily driver, but your requirements may be different than mine.
They may have only paid $3700 for it, but it looks like significant money in repairs. did someone break all the windows while it was on the lot or maybe someone wanted it totalled and did the vandalism themselves?

Estimated Repair Cost :$15,389
Avg. Estimated Retail Value :$8,943

That retail value is for a non-damaged car (?), and I'm sure nobody spent $15k restoring it....

I still think you do not need the headache of potential unknowns, plus this is a Sport which lacks many features you'll find in the GT. You CAN get a 2014 GT with a clean title close to $13k
If you still decide to buy it, I would check that the front driver's frame rail is not bent or has signs of repairs. Also check the gap and fitment of the driver's door.

I think the car market right now is pretty intense car amounts have pushed up.it you are set on a Mazda6 I think you can find one thats not been written off for a little more money
That said I think if you can get the price down which I don't hold alot of faith in it could be a good car. What you need to realize is: if you are the type of person who likes to trade every few years reselling could be a little difficult. If you do go with it i think it would be wise to print off all the before pictures to keep.
As far as the damage goes its fairly high up on the car so I doubt thetr is any damage structure wise though id find out if the frame was checked and fixed before purchase.
Personnel experience, I bought a 2011. Mazda6 that has a salvage title. I wad able to research and verify what the dealer stated. He deals primarily in lightly damaged cars my Mazda was one such car. Its got some hail damage, a crease in the trunk lid where a limb fell on it and took out the back glass.
When I bought this car an undamaged mazda6 were about 5-6000 more than this one which is fully loaded. I paid little over 6thousand for a 11-12 thousand dollar car. The problem we get into is resale value, if you plan on keeping a salvage titled car until its not worth anything anyway this makes sense to me.
My car has been the most trouble free car I've owned. Its wonderful. I tell people to do your homework before purchase. If this dealer you are using is honest then thats a plus. Alot are because of all the info thats available now courtesy of the interweb .most people dealing in these cars are above board because they know the cars sell regardless.
I have years of body shop experience and I'd consider this car if it was just a bit cheaper.
Let's us know what happens
