I have a question if anyone is up to speed on laws. I live in Kansas and am considering purchasing a multi-color LED under-dash lighting kit I saw online for around $30 for the '08 Mazda6. If I use the kit in daily use, would I risk being ticketed for it? I know at one time a few years back (when I owned the '04 Saturn Ion) I had a neon blue license light frame and had an officer warn me and I had to cut the wire to it on-the-spot to avoid a ticket. I don't want the same thing to happen on something that is a bit more involved to install.

This is an old post but I will answer it for the sake of a repost from another user. There is no law against interior lighting other than you can't have you bulbs in plain sight (i.e Putting a tube up on the top of the rear window to where a following car could see the actual lighting tube. Same applies for underglow. Colors that are legal in Nebraska include: White, Purple, Yellow, Pink. You cannot have red or blue due to emergency vehicle use. Bulbs cannot be visible from a passerby, etc. You can do a simple search to check the laws of your state as well. Just spend at least 15mins researching to save yourself a ticket and trouble with the police.
