Are you sure that is for the Mazda6? I went to their site and that part number is for the 626. My guess is that the lady you spoke with misunderstood you and assumed you wanted a filter for the Mazda 626.

I would be surprised if K&N already had a filter out for the car, considering it has barely been availalbe in N.A. for a week or two...

The car has been out for a while in Europe and Japan, not to mention, its possible Mazda didn't change the filter size. I did explain in my email that the 2003 Mazda6 is the replacement for the 626, and not a 626. I'll have to check back with them

We will be selling high flowing, cotton gauze, stock filter replacements in January for the 2.3L and 3.0L Mazda6. Basically a K&N type filter. We will do before and after dynos of the filter so everyone knows what to expect as far as power gains are concerned.

We will also have Cold Air intakes available for both V6 and I4 models.
