Thanks! The A/F doesn't surprise me at all, what with Mazda recommending regular unleaded for the engine. On the other hand, an A/F computer like the Apexi S-AFC may unlock a good deal of horsepower from the engine (perhaps more if one went to premium unleaded and had the ability to affect timing- I think the new S-AFC can) as well. This may be good news!

It might be a 20% HP loss, but by my calc's its only a 11% torque loss, whihc to me is more important, since thats whats going to move you around day in day out. Not to mention a CAI usually gives back more HP than torque, so that will help. I will dyno my car soon with the redline tranny fluid and see if that makes a difference as well. Nice job though, good to have some numbers.

Just saw this post on Miata.net

"I own a 2003 Maxima, and there is speculation that it is overrated.

Nissan lists it as 255HP 246TQ, but SAE dyno's are only showing 195-205HP and 210-220TQ at the wheels. Depending on tranny (6 speed is higher than the automatic)

Of course there is going to be some loss...but 60 horsepower?!"

yea were missing about 15hp after the loss through drivetrain, were gearing up to file a class action lawsuit against nissan for false advertisement/numbers/etc etc... it may sound far fetched but theres a grip of pissed off 02' 03' owners that are behind it, and a lawyer that has already taken the case
