While I'm driving alone the immobilizer indicator comes on and kills the engine while I'm driving sometimes; then kicks on and off and on again jerking my car forward at an awkward rate. I have to rev more and put the clutch in to survive.

obviously this is stressful. is there a way I can just disable the system; I'm not really worried about my rusty 2005 Mazda 6 getting stolen. I am however, rather worried about the engine stopping in the middle of an intersection.....

I've been reading up and I fiddle with the keys to try to make it work but I want to give myself some peace of mind that the system is OFF.

I'll give it a shot; but the symbol turns off before I start the car, I've also had trouble with my spare key.
