I was wondering about an ipod adapther for my 2007 6s. I was gonna do an aftermarket head unit but im not spending 200 dollars just for the housing. ANY one know of a solution besides a shitty FM transmitter??

You should do a search. There are many threads on ipod adapters already posted. Anyway, check therpmstore.com for the XCARLINK iPod adapter. This is the best option IMO. And ask them to send you the XCARLINK adapter with the "Line-In" port and iPod charging adapter.

I play music from my Android phone and iPod Touch with this adapter.

Yes and No. The steering wheel controls work with the iPod adapter connected, but when you have the "Line-In" cord connected you have to use the iPod or Cell Phones interface to change songs.

The "Line-In" cord is basically working like your head phones on a hand held cd player. It only receives sound. The iPod adapter receives sound, allows steering wheel controls, and charges the iPod.

These iPod adapters are pretty easy to install. It does take some know how, but I installed my adapter a few times following some iPod adapter installs on this forum.

As for the needing anything extra for this install...Yes, you will need a "Line-In" cord. $10 at BestBuy to plug into to the iPod adapter body. That's basically it. If your installing it yourself, search the forum for iPod install. That should bring up what you need.

Hey - I got my FM modulator from Crutchfield.com and they sent me an installation guide for the Mazda6 (2004) that I have - I had to splice a few wires on the car's wiring to install it but I'm a chick and I figured it out so it must have been pretty easy if *I* could figure it out :) I just have the cord coming from the modulator running under the gear shift up through the ashtray... I couldn't take using a transmitter anymore!!

It's called Scosche FM-MOD01 FM Modulator w/RCA Inputs, On/Off Switch from crutchfield.com and like I said, they sent detailed installation for my model... it ran me $30

Hope that helps, too! :)
