This COVID-19 escalated very quickly and I'm not sure how things are in other states, but here in CA things are starting to shut down and I've even been transferred to work at home. Being an accountant this is not a problem, but I'm curious as to how other people with different professions living in other states are doing.

I'm in Canada and started working from home on Monday. My company is clear on that... Everyone that can work from home has to.

Stay safe, everybody.

Edit: I'm an IT specialist.

Seattle here! The traffic volumes have reverted to 1980 levels as nearly all, who can, work from home. Store shelves are wiped out for some but not all products. People no longer seem to know how to interact with each other in public. There is a palpable feeling that everyone is trying to pretend they are alone when they have to go out. It is rather strange to observe.

The stupid is.... well.... :)

(To everyone) As someone in the IT world, please make sure you give credit to those making it possible to work from home and be patient, as many of us are pulling our hair out at the thought of entire companies being remote :)

Yesterday was my first full day from home. I'm a graphic designer in the marketing department at an auto dealership group, so I can do pretty much anything remotely anyway besides printing. The kids home makes things interesting though.

Thank you for your services, people (myself included) don't give the IT departments enough credit.

What quarantine?

I'm still heading to the office every day. Granted, half of our staff chose to work from home due to possible health-related issues, and I'm now 30 feet away from the next person...

I'm LOVING the commute, now that the roads are nearly empty. That is a plus in my book.

I work in printing, so no working from home for me, I have to be where the machines are. The wife is working from home, the kid is out of school indefinitely. Things really aren't that much different from normal except that everyone is slightly terrified right now and the stores have no toilet paper.

My wife starts WFH tomorrow. She's a art coordinator/ graphic artist here in FL so most of her work is on a PC anyway. I tossed together a home office space for her yesterday once they got word they they would be home. The kids start virtual learning on Monday. The thing I don't like about that is the fact that they want these kids to still follow a schedule and be at the PC all day as if they are in class. I'd rather bust out all the work in the AM and have the rest of the day to do whatever we want lol. My take is as long as all the work is done, it shouldn't matter how little time it took and they about to learn "carry the 1"

Don't get me started on the education system lol.......Forcing children to do low-grade clerical work for 8 hours a day, 20 years straight, simply doesn't make sense to me. But I digress :)

I had a two week vacation planned for Mexico but since that never occurred I thought I would do my part and isolate. My partner runs a business in our basement which has a separate entrance. So the few employees that still report to work (admin, mechanic) are separated from the rest of the house.

I must say I am both welcoming the work distraction once it comes time to report to work in a week or so (I can work from home) but I am dreading the occasional trip to the office (outside of taking the car for a good run). I am keeping busy currently by tearing every appliance apart and giving it a good cleaning; Washer, Vacuum, dishwasher, etc...not in fear of viruses but just something to keep my mind on a task and off the current pandemic situation. We live in a rural area so I feel pretty lucky to be able to get out for walks/runs and just enjoy the fresh air and serenity.

I am used to a 200+ km commute each day so this is going to be a very big change for me. I haven't driven my poor 6 in a week as I am trying to stay away from public spots, including gas stations.

Wishing everyone the best...

I work in a grocery store in North Florida... it's f-ing nuts... people are crazy...
Mob mentality and general panic caused by two generations of being spoiled rotten will do that, unfortunately. At least there are still tons of great people out there who are doing everything they can to help each other out. We'll be fine, just need to ride it out and play it safe until then :)

LMFAO!! And they just closed the beaches starting at 5pm tonight. People are going to be out at the stores just to get out. Mad props to you and hang in there! I know there are too many nasty rude people in Jax on a normal day let alone all of this BS.

Great to hear that most of us are staying calm and levelheaded during this time because many others are definitely not.

I have plenty to keep me calm lol. Right before all this happened I started ordering audio equipment for my Avalanche and one of my great friends just gave me 3 monitors for the Avalanche as well as a monitor and a stand alone single din DVD player for the Mazda. These kids of mine are going to love trips in either of them once all this is over. They already love the ceiling mount monitor that's in the Mazda but it was ran off of a portable DVD player. Getting the single din in will kick ass and give me cds back!

IT is a difficult team to manage. When my group included IT, I told them that they needed the them to tell me of their successes. In normal times, when IT does a great job, there is no evidence, systems don’t go down, high speed access is maintained, and the rest of the team works efficiently.

Make sure you let your leaders know of your accomplishments(in normal times). I will thank my IT team that has facilitated hundreds of us working from home.

Thank you for reminding us.

I am calm and level headed.

I also believe we each need enough supplies to make it through a period of inability to get to the store.

Does that make me calm and level headed or a someone responding in panic.
