----

So I was having trouble with my iPod. I had the exact same issues as the starter of that thread. Anyway. The iPod was fucking up - it was making a clicking noise (bad bad bad) - and the Apple logo would eventually turn on after a few seconds, then it would switch to a sadface iPod, and then back to a recharge cycle and do nothing. It wasn't even recognized on the OS. So I stumble upon that thread, and three people in it say dropping it from waist height fixes the problem. I said "what the fuck it's got shock mounts built in to protect the HD" and dropped it from waist height.

So? The result? It works. It fucking works. MacOSX recognizes and it works like nothing ever happened.

Hmmm I had the same clicking problem. Instead of trying to fix it I brought it to the Apple Store under warranty.

Without any questions, they asked me to fill out some paperwork, and they handed me a brand new shiny iPod and left my old one with them. Glad I bought the warranty. :)

I would have done the same if my warranty hadn't expired 6 months ago.

These iPods seem to be horribly unreliable.

I don't know. It hasn't ever done this before. I don't know anyone personally that had their iPod go defunct.

It seems like everyone I know with one has had problems.

I have a second and third gen iPod but use the third gen religiously in the 6. I have updated the software a few times and to date it has not failed me. Maybe it's the newer versions? I've had my iPod for over three years and still rockin!! Im waiting on the touch screen iPod when it comes out in a year or two! LOL

I have a 5th gen 60gb and it gets dropped/knocked off of things all the time (not on purpose). I'm scared to death of it getting broke. It's still rocking out though!

PSP for an iPod Nano? How does that make sense?

Thanks for the link. Seriously, my iPod is scratched to hell. I was gonna get that invisible shield stuff, but since my iPod is already scratched to shit, I didn't bother. Now I can.

lol, i know it sounds stupid i originally got it from my ex a while ago and i don't want to spend money on games and movies so i figure a 1 gig ipod for my psp was alright. i mean he's a good kid so it wasn't a big deal for me.

The iPods are notorious for breaking, failing and losing their battery life rapidly, ask any Geek Squad member at bestbuy! I've had 1 2nd gen (for my girl) and personally have run thru 4 3rd gens myself (thank god for the bestbuy extended warranty).

They have a cult following mainly because they're Apple, cute and easy to use. If you want something for the more advanced user, check this out:

It functions as a mini harddrive, picture/video viewer, videogamer and mp3 player plus has a 3.5" screen. Check the resrt of the site as well, some great products!

Those look badass. Especially the AV700, but damn, it is BIG. 4.2" x 8.2" x 0.8"

The design of them aren't that great though. They look pretty ugly (At least the AV500 and AV400). Although the AV700 actually looks nice.

But these things are $150+ more expensive than a regular Video iPod.

But for $500? Hrmm... and people say the PS3 is expensive... Although I would consider buying this.

Ok these are pretty fucking badass. You can buy a camera accessory and record videos on it.
