Hi, I just purchased a 2007 Mazda 6 Sportwagon. The dealer graciously threw in a Hood Deflector. On my first highway trip, I noticed "static" coming from the radio. I turned off the radio and still got "static". I brought the car back complaining of wind noise coming seemingly, from the bottom middle of the windshild.

The dealer says it could be coming from many areas and is not covered by the warranty.

He suggested that it might be from the "Mazda" wind deflector!

I searched this forum aboout this issue and there is some Canadian talk about it being a wind noise problem.

What is the latest on this? Has Mazda come up wth a better design that works? Is Mazda doing anything about this? Is it a choice of wind noise versus stone chips?

Thanks for any input.

Bug Deflector Update

Hi again. I took off the bug deflector and did a test drive. No (at least a lot less) wind noise. The bulk of the noise is then caused by the "Mazda" delfector.

Has anyone come up with a fix for the wind noise, or at least some ideas to help reduce it ?

All comments appreciated !

Thanks, Barrie

Hood Deflector

Here is a picture. I am sure it has saved me from stone chips, so I am reluctant to leave it off. I am between a rock and a hard place in that I don't like the noise, but I prefer noise over stone chips.

Thanks, Barrie

They're Canadian special, and the US dealers won't carry them (probably due to some legal bullsh*t!)

I always wanted one for my '04, but it was too expensive to get one shipped from Canada.

I just attached one to my '04 GT yesterday, sorry bout the shitty pic, iphone is crappy camera. Bought the deflector at Sundance Mazda in Edmonton for around $80.00 with gst. I am in the process of filling in and painting all the rock chips on the front of my hood that this would have saved me from over the past 2 years as you can see the primer spots in the one foto.

Hey Barrie,
I haven't noticed any more noise than usual since adding it. The car is a bit noisy inside to begin with especially on crappy roads but I don't care. Of all the cars I've owned, mustangs, camaro, escorts, lol, it is by far my favorite.

Any advice on a chip we can add up here? Having trouble finding one in Edmonton, all the performance stores seem to be geared toward my nemesis, trucks.
