Every once in a while you see a car that has a blown airbag for reasons that don't usually cause an airbag to deploy. Likely inconsistent sensors, one or more being too sensitive. What I don't understand is how this place ended up with the car. I saw an Ebay auction from them a few weeks ago with a 2010 Kia Forte that had been flooded up to the dashboard and was 'salvage'. I think they're buying cars from insurance companies, but I just can't see this car being totalled.
That's interesting. I rear-ended a guy a few months back, and the impact was pretty hard - hard enough to bend the hood into a triangle - and the airbag never deployed. Even funnier was how I managed to put the hood back into shape simply by pressing down hard on it. I even had the car checked by the dealer for impact damage, and they couldn't find a single thing wrong with it - not even damage to the hood! The only telltale sign of a crash is a scratch on the bumper, about an inch long.
